No. 8 – Women’s Cross Country Finishes No. 7 at NCAA Championships

November 17, 2018

Women’s Cross Country spent nearly all season ranked in the Top 10, winning three of their four regular-season meets and placing 4th in the other.

The Cougars took advantage of the home course to win the West Coast Conference Championship, then qualified for the NCAA Championships with a third place finish in regionals.

BYU ran well in the Wisconsin cold. Erica Birk-Jarvis paced the Cougars, crossing the line in seventh individually as the team took seventh overall, their best finish since 2003.

No. 7 – Men’s Basketball Dominates St. Mary’s in WCC Tournament

March 5, 2018

For the first time in a few years, Men’s Basketball wasn’t able to take down Gonzaga. In fact, they finished the 2017-18 with their worst conference record since joining the West Coast Conference (11-7).

That earned them yet another third seed in the WCC tournament, and a first round win over San Diego set up a semifinal matchup with St. Mary’s, who beat the Cougars twice in the regular season.

Things were different in Las Vegas, though. BYU took control early, led by Yoeli Childs’ 33 points and Elijah Bryant’s 25, and the Cougars sent Jock Landale, Calvin Hermanson, and Emmett Naar home from their final WCC Tournament with an 85-72 loss.
