The BYU Cougars kick off the 2025 season in 39 days against Portland State. As we continue counting down the days until kickoff, today we will profile the player who wears No. 39 - freshman safety Crew Clark - by providing three interesting, fun facts:

Fun fact No. 1 - He's a winner

To quote DJ Khaled, all Crew Clark does is win. According to his player profile at BYU's website, the Sugar-Salem High School star brought home multiple championships during his prep days. He was a two-time state champion in football while being selected first-team All-State twice. He also played basketball in high school and won two more state titles on the hardwood.

Fun fact No. 2 - He's well traveled

Clark doesn't have a 247 Sports profile, so I had to do some research to find out more about his background. He reportedly signed with Jay Hill's Weber State program in 2020 before serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Upon returning from his mission, he enrolled at the University of Idaho before rejoining Jay Hill again in 2025, this time at BYU.

Fun fact No. 3 - He's also...a great kicker?

Clark played defensive back in high school and is listed as a safety on BYU's roster. But his greatness isn't limited to just the defensive side of the ball. Back in 2020, he was named Idaho's kicker of the year. He reportedly hit 30 of 34 PATs and kicked 18 touchbacks on kickoffs. If BYU needs a kicker in a pinch, their next best option just might also be playing in the secondary.
