BYU football just secured a huge commitment -- and I mean that in several ways -- with four-star defensive lineman Jeremiah Williams announcing that he'd be joining Kalani Sitake's football program out in Provo.

Don't be fooled by the Texas Tech-ripped logo on his high school helmet -- Williams is a Cougar.

Williams is a force of nature. Standing at 6'1" and 310 pounds, he's a cannonball breaking through the offensive line. A two-sport athlete at Tustin High School in Tustin, California, Williams ran a 12.95-second 100-meter dash.

Where he's limited is in his length. Standing with a stout frame, he dominated the high school ranks, but concerns over his ability to compensate against the top-tier athletes of high-level college football (like, for example, the Big 12 Conference) give scouts pause about how smoothly he'll translate over to the next level.

At his size, though, he has great natural leverage with a low center of gravity that can knock offensive linemen off their stance, disrupting both in the pass rush and in run defense. He's fast, quick at the snap, and a strong candidate to become a multi-year starter at BYU if he can find his stride.

Could you imagine being tackled by a 6'1" 310-pound man in football pads? I can. My bones would turn to powder. My organs would flatten like postage stamps. I would be reduced to a stain on the ground as one of nature's apex predators demolishes me only to get up, scrape me off of his chest, and move on to the next play.

Williams is the 27th-rated prospect from California and the 37th-rated defensive lineman in the nation, per 247 Sports composite rating. He chose BYU despite offers from some of the most elite college football programs in the nation, like Michigan, Miami, Notre Dame, Washington, Tennessee, Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Georgia.

Jeremiah Williams was a very highly sought-after recruit in the class of 2026 -- Sitake and his team went out and got a monster. Another massive recruiting win for BYU football as they build upon an incredible first three years in the Big 12.
