He's got the name - Brigham! - but does the 6-foot-8, 320-pound mauler have the game to contribute as a freshman?

The BYU Cougars will kick off the 2025 season in 65 days against Portland State. As we continue counting down the days until kickoff, today we will profile the player who wears No. 65 - freshman offensive lineman Brigham Alexander - by providing three interesting, fun facts:

Fun fact No. 1 - He's got the best name on the team

I mean, his name is "Brigham", people! BYU's football roster has some other cool first names like Raider, Ace, Cannon, Lucky, and Justice, but nothing compares with Brigham Alexander. When I hear his first name I can't help but think of the way Kyle Van Noy introduces himself by saying, "Kyle Van Noy, Brigham", instead of "BYU". Brigham Alexander is going to have to fight to find his name on the depth chart this year, but he's the undisputed champion with the best name on the roster.

Fun fact No. 2 - He's massive at 6-foot-8 and 320 pounds

Few players on BYU's roster have Alexander's combination of height and weight. Not only that, but he reportedly has an 84-inch (seven foot) wingspan, which is enormous. NFL talent evaluators always look at the reach of offensive linemen, and Alexander has that in spades. If he can figure out his technique at the college level, he's got the physical tools that cause NFL teams to salivate.

Fun fact No. 3 - He's a high-upside walk-on

Alexander graduated with the class of 2022 out of Benjamin Franklin High School in Arizona. He played along both the offensive and defensive lines but didn't generate a ton of scholarship offers. He had offers from Northern Arizona and even smaller schools.

After doing the camp circuit, including BYU, he decided to take a walk-on spot with the Cougars instead of signing with a smaller program. Now home from a mission to Argentina, it wouldn't se surprising to see him redshirt this season and continue to refine his technique to match his solid physique.
