The BYU Cougars will kick off the 2025 season in 68 days against Portland State. As we continue counting down the days until kickoff, today we will profile the player who wears No. 68 - freshman right tackle Andrew Williams.
Andrew Williams's background
True freshman Andrew Williams was one of the higher-rated recruits in BYU's class of 2025. Hailing from Kirksville, Missouri he was a three-star recruit with a solid 87 rating from 247 Sports. He was the No. 12 recruit in the state last year and pulled in a decent scholarship offer list despite playing for a small school.
In addition to Ivy League schools like Harvard, Yale, and Princeton pursuing the 4.0 student, Big 12 schools Iowa State, Kansas State, and Kansas also offered him. Because he came from a small school at least some of the interest he generated came after he attended camps, which is what led to his offer from BYU.

Williams's potential impact in 2025
At 6-foot-8 and 295 pounds, Andrew Williams has ideal size to play tackle at the Power Four level. Where things stand as of now the freshman could end up with a prominent spot on the two-deep roster. Ourlads projects him as the third string right tackle behind incumbent Austin Leausa and Michigan transfer Andrew Gentry. KSL Sports lists Williams as the No. 2 right tackle with Gentry as the backup on the left side.
Either way, big things seem to be ahead for Andrew Williams. Now with the benefit of BYU's top-tier strength and conditioning programs, not to mention excellent coaching from offensive line coach TJ Woods, Williams could develop into one of BYU's tackles of the future.
He has the size. He has the brains. Now he just needs time to put it all together for a Power Four contender.
