BYU football product John Taumoepeau didn't hear his name called on draft night. That wasn't entirely unexpected, as he didn't appear on any mock drafts leading up to the big night. But he will still have a chance to make his case for a pro career in the NFL with an invitation to the Kansas City Chiefs mini-camp.

And of all the spots to have a BYU football player hope for a breakthrough, there are few better NFL homes than Kansas City.
There are few alumni that BYU football fans take greater pride in than the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, Andy Reid. A multiple-time Super Bowl champion, mastermind of what was once the most potent force of football on Planet Earth, and nurturer of every sideline's greatest mustache, Reid has a decorated career and will likely find his name posted on the walls of the football hall of fame.
So it brings BYU fans great joy to learn that one of the university's most successful athletic alumni is hunting for Cougars to fill his roster. Taumoepeau, a defensive tackle and senior from Renton, Washington (represent), enjoyed a strong career with BYU football and will get the chance to be the next former Coug to find a home with KC.
Daniel Sorenson managed a very positive stint with the Chiefs as he patrolled the secondary from the safety position. More recently, offensive lineman Kingsley Suamataia found his niche in the Chiefs' front line as a guard, cementing his place with Andy Reid's system.
Though Taumoepeau's mini camp invitation is far from a guarantee to make the final 53-man roster (in fact, it likely suggests the opposite), he'll get a chance to make his case against other NFL hopefuls.
