The best 3-point shooter in college basketball just hit the transfer portal

Kevin Young and BYU basketball must take aim at ISU's Milan Momcilovic

BYU basketball desperately lacked three-point shooting to surround its star trio of AJ Dybanta, Rob Wright, and Richie Saunders. It's one of the reasons why last year's team failed to meet their sky-high expectations. So when a player as sharp from distance as Iowa State's Milan Momcilovic becomes available, you throw everything but the kitchen sink at his recruitment.

That's exactly what's happened, as Momcilovic joined the ravenous hoard of players breaching the threshold of the transfer portal.

For the uninitiated, Milan Momcilovic was college basketball's best shooter last season, connecting on a staggering 48.7% three-point rate. Standing at 6'8" with the feathery stroke and deadly accuracy of Artemis equipped with a bow and arrow, Momcilovic was the focal point of TJ Otzelberger's offensive arsenal.

He scored 16.9 points per game with the Cylones. It's no wonder that alongside the transfer portal, he'll likewise be testing the waters of the NBA Draft as he has the size and skillset to carve out an admirable NBA career.

But if the NBA doesn't show significant interest at the moment, what better place could Momcilovic look to prove his worth at the next level than Kevin Young's NBA bootcamp with BYU basketball? Paired alongside Collin Chandler -- another 40%+ three-point shooter who recently transferred to Provo -- Momcilovic would make BYU basketball one of the scariest offensive threats in all of college basketball.

The Pewaukee, Wisconsin, native and former ISU Cyclone would be a senior if he opts to return for another year of college basketball. BYU would have oceans of competition to secure his hot hand if they target the nation's best shooter.

BYU fans have witnessed firsthand just how deadly he can be, as a sophomore Momcilovic regularly lit up the Cougars in their in-conference scheduled and tournament meetings.

P.S., given the opportunity, I would absolutely recommend Andy Samberg as the leading role in Milan Momcilovic's inevitable biopic. I stand behind that.
