We've finally arrived at the college basketball postseason. One of the most highly-anticipated sections of the sports calendar, and the greatest month of the year for basketball fans, March Madness is upon us.

And BYU basketball finally has the momentum behind them to compete at the highest level, even after a disappointing regular season. Despite having won just two of their last four games, those two wins arrived at the expense of two top-10 programs, Iowa State and Texas Tech, with the latter punctuating the final game of the regular season.

No more home games for the Cougars -- we're on to March.

March Madness is already in full swing. Didn't you see Lehigh (CJ McCollum's alma mater) sink a half-court shot to advance in their conference quarterfinal game? Even before the postseason began, Miami of Ohio completed an undefeated season by holding onto a two-point overtime lead against in-state rival Ohio.

Or perhaps allow me to direct you to the smoothest counter-clutch basket I've ever seen with Boston University's upset over top-seeded Navy?

The Big 12 Tournament promises battles between the toughest teams in the nation, and BYU basketball wants to be part of the fireworks display. Behind AJ Dybantsa, Rob Wright, and a rejuvenated supporting cast, Kevin Young's squad is geared up for March Madness and desperate to prove that they still belong as a contender on the national stage.

And after a brutal .500 record in conference play, BYU basketball has a UConn-esque gauntlet ahead if they want to compete for the Big 12 championship and contention at the game's biggest stage.

Without a bye and carrying the unbearable load of expectations, AJ Dybantsa and his squad will suit up against Kansas State in their round-one matchup, hoping to recreate their win over the Wildcats from earlier in the season.

Even with a win in the first round, BYU's path to the title game will not be an easy one. If they manage to avenge their road loss to West Virginia from a few weeks ago, they'll have to face Houston, a team that the Cougars played well in Provo, but ultimately lost by double digits. Manage to defy the odds and push past Kelvin Sampson's Coogs? You've likely got a date with Kansas or TCU, and a championship game against Arizona or Texas Tech.

Just try to breathe -- it can all be a little overwhelming.

Here's the good news: even with a first-round loss to K-State, BYU basketball is a lock for the NCAA Tournament. Key wins over Iowa State and Texas Tech, along with a strong 12-10 record in Q1 and Q2 games, have stamped the Cougars' name into the ledger, and you'll see their name on Selection Sunday, regardless of the Big 12 Tournament.

So the floor is set, but here's the best part: if the Cougars can manage to run the table (or at least upset Houston), their seed is likely due for a promotion. Though it hasn't exactly played out as originally hoped, this year's edition of BYU basketball still controls their own destiny if they can do one simple thing: win.
