The transfer portal giveth, and the transfer portal taketh away. In this instance, it is veteran BYU guard Dallin Hall who will be testing the waters of pseudo-free agency and pursuing a starting role elsewhere.
In other words, Dallin Hall has entered the transfer portal.

Hall, this season's backup point guard, was a regular starter in his first two seasons with the Cougars, but with the introduction of Egor Demin to the lineup, it's no surprise that Hall saw a decline in his minutes, especially as Demin built confidence near the end of the season and into the NCAA Tournament.
This isn't Hall's first foray into the transfer wilderness, as he dipped his toe into the transfer pool with the major coaching change at BYU. His exit, in tandem with Richie Saunders' departure, put the BYU basketball program into critical condition.
No insight has been released as to whether Hall is already entertaining suitors, but he got plenty of attention from teams like Kentucky and Creighton while he measured his apparent value a year ago with programs across the nation. A talented and steadying presence in BYU's schemes, Hall possesses the talent to be a lead guard on a competitive team, and clearly read the tea leaves that his space would likely be shared, whether from an incoming transfer or otherwise.
Could this be an indication that NBA prospect Egor Demin may be considering a return to the royal blue? Maybe another high-profile guard is eying a jump to Provo in the hopes of becoming pro-ready? We can only speculate at this time.
Once he bought into new head coach Kevin Young's system this season, his experience and leadership led the Cougars in one of the program's best recorded seasons in its history. He put his heart and every ounce of effort he had into this basketball program, and was always ready to compete through the highs and lows of BYU hoops.
Thanks for your contribution, Dallin. We'll always remember your legendary performance against Kansas in the Allen Fieldhouse last season, and you'll always hold a special place in the hearts of Cougar nation.
