BYU basketball has been name-dropped as one of the key players in pursuit of 2027 5-star forward Moussa Kamissoko.

Per Sam Kayser, Kamissoko shared that Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Illinois, Syracuse, Virginia, Alabama, and Oklahoma State are other programs that have been in close contact and should be the primary names to watch in his recruiting cycle.

It's still wild to me to see BYU's logo listed in the hunt for a five-star basketball recruit at all. So the fact that Kevin Young and his team have been listed as a contender for several in the class of 2027 has left me dizzy. I'm almost losing track of just how many 5 and 4-star prospects are in BYU's contact list; that's how ridiculous this is getting.

Safe to say, there's no sign of slowing down from BYU basketball's recruiting momentum after three straight seasons with a five-star freshman on the roster.

Kamissoko is a spindly forward who weighs just 180 despite standing at a towering 6'8".

He doesn't boast the quickest first step of his class, but he gathers speed quickly if he gets going downhill. From there, he'll dip his shoulder down to the defender's hip and gain all the leverage he needs to find his open shot, be that at the rim or over a contesting hand. He has shooting touch in spades and limitless creativity around the basket. Far from slow, still, he's malleable and comfortable making adjustments to his shot or positioning when needed. Adding to that, his flexibility and high release make him a threat from anywhere inside the three-point arc, where his exceptional athleticism elevates him head and shoulders above the opposition.

He'll live above the rim if you let him, and his steady control of the dribble allows him excellent mobility for his size. The jump shot is smooth, repeatable, and reliable, as he can easily take a pull-up off the dribble and drive the dagger into the defense from a distance, but he's positively deadly with momentum and a window to the basket.

Don't let his slender build fool you, either, Kamissoko can throw his weight around, and uses his physicality very well on the offensive end. He'll bump, nudge, and feel his way through pressing defense, and has multiple ways out of attacking any given defensive look.

Kamissoko is a five-star recruit and the 9th-rated player in the country, per 247 Sports Composite.
