Our worst fears have been realized -- we're in that part of the offseason where you'll get excited and click on an article (as I see you have) because of an announcement regarding scheduling.
Take a moment to absorb our new temporary reality: we're in the slowdown zone for the next few months.
In good news, however, BYU basketball is a topic that I can never stop talking about, and they've given me yet another reason to look forward to the upcoming season. That reason being: a rematch with Wisconsin. Last year's Big 10 runners-up and victims of BYU's late-season hot streak, the Badgers dropped to Kevin Young's blazing Cougs in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32.
In what was a nail-biting finish, the Cougars were able to hold their rabid opponents at arm's length despite a sudden shooting ignition from Wisconsin. A team loaded with talent and constantly in the national conversation, BYU's opponent will meet them in Salt Lake City's Delta Center for a second 2025 meeting.
This will be a regular-season matchup, unlike the exhibition slot taken up by UNC at Delta Center before the schedule officially begins.
This schedule announcement comes as a two-parter, with this year's meeting serving as the first game between these two foes, with the second game to be played the following season in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, presumably on the Bucks' home floor.
With Kevin Young's experience on an NBA surface, he may feel right at home for these meetings, regardless of location.
Another Q1 battle locked in for the next two seasons of BYU hoops, it's clear that this program intends to play the very best competition in the nation -- they don't want to wait until March.
