I’m a lifelong BYU fan, a BYU graduate, and an avid collector of sports cards. In recent years, I've begun specializing in rare, autographed cards of BYU players in their BYU uniforms. Instead of just keeping these cardboard treasures to myself, in this video series entitled "BYU Cards Tell Stories", I'm opening up my collection and sharing it with you.

In this episode, I'm sharing my collection of BYU running back legends Jamal Willis, Luke Staley, Jamaal Williams, and Tyler Allgeier.

Jamal Willis - 1995 Superior Pix numbered to 5000

Jamal was a dominant back for BYU from 1991 to 1994. In his career as a Cougar he rushed for 2,970 yards and 32 touchdowns, but he was also a threat in the receiving game with 1,117 receiving yards and five more scores. He played one season for the San Francisco 49ers as a kick returner but an injury cut his career short. Jamal currently works as an academic counselor at BYU for several sports programs.

Luke Staley - 2002 Press Proof

Luke played for BYU from 1999 to 2001. After two solid seasons to begin his career in Provo, he exploded on the national scene during his 2001 junior campaign. He rushed for 1,582 yards and 24 touchdowns that year, leading the nation with an 8.1 yards per carry average. He was a consensus All-American, won the Doak Walker Award, and the Jim Brown Award. He was as seventh round pick in the NFL Draft due to previous injury concerns, and a preseason injury ended his pro career before he played in his first NFL game.

Jamaal Williams - 2017 Panini Classics

The energetic, funny, and dominant running back did his thing at BYU from 2012 through 2016, setting the BYU all-time rushing leader record with 3,901 yards. He was a fourth round pick in the NFL Draft and has put together an impressive eight-year NFL career with 4,122 rushing yards, 1,310 receiving yards, and 40 total touchdowns.

Tyler Allgeier - 2022 Panini Youth Explosion numbered to 10

This is one of my favorite cards in my personal collection since it's gold and numbered to just 10. Tyler played at BYU from 2018 through 2021 and set the school's season rushing record with 1,606 rushing yards in 2021. He was a fifth-round pick by the Atlanta Falcons and set the franchise rookie rushing record with 1,035 yards in 2022. He continues to be a featured part of the Falcons' offense now in his fourth NFL season.
