BYU football won a hard-fought game Saturday night over the Colorado Buffaloes, 24-21, in Boulder.

To gain a greater understanding of the anatomy of this victory, I've broken into the box score and gathered some key stats which, as a program, and for individual Cougars, could carry crucial meaning down the road.

Will Ferrin's first miss of the season

Will Ferrin's streak of 25 straight made field goals would come to an end as Ferrin had a rare miss late in the game. Ferrin set a new BYU record with 88 straight successful point-after-touchdown kicks made.

No mistakes from Bear

The biggest stat at quarterback is that after four wins and 90 passes, true freshman Bear Bachmeier has thrown zero interceptions.

Chase Roberts has historically sure hands

Chase Roberts also has an impressive streak going. After the game against Colorado, he has 30 straight games with a catch. Roberts also now has 2,000 receiving yards and 15 touchdown receptions and a passing touchdown in his career.

BYU is 3-0 against Colorado when the Cougars are ranked. This was the Cougars' first game in Boulder since 1981, when they beat Colorado 41-20. Jim McMahon threw three touchdown passes, and Steve Young threw two in that victory.

BYU has played three straight games without a turnover and four straight without an interception. The Cougars are on a six-game winning streak and a six-game streak of rushing for 150 or more yards as a team, carrying into last season. BYU continues to own the night, with a 32-4 record in night games in their last 36 games under the lights. This includes being 14-1 in road night games in their last 15 night games away from home. Friday's game against West Virginia will be another night game for the Cougars.

Under Coach Sitake, BYU is 35-4 when they don't turn the ball over, including 14-3 when they don't turn it over in an away game. The Cougars are also 44-8 when they have a positive turnover margin and win the turnover battle. This is also the fourth season Coach Sitake has had BYU start 4-0. They won 11, 10, and 11 games in the first three seasons. BYU will look to continue their success at night, winning the turnover battle, and getting their star players going when they host West Virginia this Friday.
