BYU Players in the NFL: Cheers to Kedon Slovis and Michael Davis, but Fred Warner and Puka Nacua go down in Week 6

It was an overall dismal week for former BYU Cougars in the NFL, but there is good news to be had for Michael Davis with the Saints and Kedon Slovis with the Cardinals.

The pipeline from Provo to the pros is strong, with 18 former BYU Cougars currently on NFL rosters. Here's how each of them performed in Week 6.

Tyler Allgeier, RB, Atlanta Falcons

Stats: Plays on Monday Night Football

Tyler Allgeier and the Atlanta Falcons play on Monday Night Football, so after publication of this column. Through four games this season the fourth-year stud is averaging 38.8 rushing yards per game on 3.6 yards per carry.

Zayne Anderson, S, Green Bay Packers

Stats: 1 special teams tackle

Zayne is fully healthy now and continues to be a mainstay on the Packers special teams while providing depth at safety. He now has four tackles in the three games he has played in this year.

Chris Brooks, RB, Green Bay Packers

Stats: 1 rush, 1 yard; 1 special teams tackle

Brooks continues to play a consistent, reliable role on both offense and special teams for the Packers. The third-year pro isn't touching the ball as often as he did last year, but he has a firm spot on the depth chart and is just one injury away from playing a more prominent role.

Brady Christensen, OG, Carolina Panthers

Stats: Started the game...and dominated!

Brady Christensen was inserted into the starting lineup a couple of games ago and has been on an absolute tear for the Panthers! He entered the game as PFF's No. 3 ranked guard of 106 in the entire NFL. Brady had another terrific day in a big win over the Dallas Cowboys, opening holes for the second straight monster rushing game from Rico Dowdle to get the team to 3-3. Christensen has been playing at a Pro Bowl level these last few weeks.

Michael Davis, CB, New Orleans Saints

Stats:  Entered game, no stats

BYU fans received excellent news last week when veteran cornerback Michael Davis signed with the New Orleans Saints. After eight solid seasons with 76 starts in 122 career games, Davis hadn't found a home through the first five weeks. He's now on the 53-man roster for the New Orleans Saints, giving BYU fans another reason to cheer for New Orleans as they also root on Taysom Hill. He saw the field in his New Orleans debut but didn't record any stats.

Taysom Hill, TE, New Orleans Saints

Stats:  1 rush, 1 yard, 1 TD

Taysom made his 2025 debut a week ago after tearing his ACL in December 2024. The Saints are bringing him along somewhat slowly and this week was no exception. His only carry against the Patriots was memorable, though, as Hill punched it in from the one yard line for a Saints touchdown.

Puka Nacua, WR, Los Angeles Rams

Stats: 2 receptions, 28 yards

The only thing that can stop the NFL's best wide receiver is an injury. Unfortunately, that's why Puka was held to just two receptions for 28 yards this week. He suffered a foot injury in the second quarter but returned to the game, but Puka was clearly not himself. Puka had begun the season with the most receptions through five games in NFL history before his setback this week.

Ryan Rehkow, P, Cincinnati Bengals

Stats: 4 punts, 52.8 yards per punt, 3 inside 20, 1 touch back

Rehkow entered Week 6 leading the NFL in punting average at 53.1 yards per punt. His four punts this week were right in line with his season's average, but three of his kicks were downed inside the 20 and the other was a touch back. The former BYU special teams star is trending toward a Pro Bowl nod in just his second NFL season.

Kedon Slovis, QB, Arizona Cardinals

Stats: Did not play

The good news keeps coming for former BYU players finding spots on 53-man rosters. Kedon Slovis was elevated to the Cardinals roster this week from the practice squad. He was an undrafted free agent last year and spent the season with the Houston Texans practice squad. His promotion to the Cardinals roster is major step forward for the young quarterback.

Kingsley Suamataia, OG, Kansas City Chiefs

Stats: Started at left guard

The Chiefs once again played in prime time, this time on Sunday Night Football. The second-year guard continues to start for the Chiefs and is progressing nicely this year. His PFF grade of 59.8 coming into this week's contest ranked 48th of 106 guards in the NFL, which is solid considering he moved from tackle to guard this season.

Khyiris Tonga, DT, New England Patriots

Stats:  4 tackles, 1 tackle for loss

What a game for the massive defensive lineman! While most interior DLs just eat up blocks and occasionally make a tackle, Tonga had four tackles this week, including a tackle for loss. Tonga more than did his part in the Patriots win over the Saints. The fifth-year pro is quietly having a fantastic season.

Kyle Van Noy, OLB, Baltimore Ravens

Stats: 1 tackle

The veteran was a captain in this week's Ravens game, which was a loss to Puka Nacua and the Rams. While Van Noy got the honors of representing the team, he was limited to just one tackle in a bad Baltimore performance.

Fred Warner, LB, San Francisco 49ers

Stats: 1 tackle

Oh, no. Fred Warner was on track for yet another All-Pro season but dislocated his ankle after making a single tackle this week. The injury looked serious and he was carted off. This is awful.

Did not play

Tyler Batty, DE, Minnesota Vikings (injured reserve)

Blake Freeland, OT, Indianapolis Colts (injured reserve)

Jakob Robinson, CB, San Francisco 49ers (injured reserve)

Sione Takitaki, LB, Minnesota Vikings (practice squad)

Zach Wilson, QB, Miami Dolphins (DNP)
