Kyle Van Noy made BYU history in 2024.
The 11-year veteran had a career-high 12.5 sacks for the Baltimore Ravens, giving him 55 in his outstanding NFL career. He moved past Ziggy Ansah’s 50.5 career sacks to put himself atop the all-time sacks leaderboard for BYU alums. To put KVN’s NFL career in context, the only other former Cougars to exceed 25 career sacks are Travis Hall (42) and Brett Keisel (30), per Football Reference, so what Van Noy has accomplished is truly remarkable.
2024 Statistical Summary
16 games, 13 starts
41 tackles, 14 tackles for loss
12.5 sacks, 25 pressures, 21 QB hits
Kyle Van Noy’s Season Overview
I’ve previously written about how KVN resurrected his stalled NFL career last year. He started the 2023 NFL season unemployed, watching games from his couch for the first three weeks of the season. Then the Ravens called and the rest is history.
Van Noy started his 2024 season playing like a man with his hair on fire. After a quiet Week 1, he went on to have two sacks in each of his next three games and was named the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Month for September. Through his first four games he had six sacks, seven tackles for loss, nine quarterback hits, and a forced fumble.
But then Van Noy went into a “sacks funk” for a stretch. While he was still playing well and impacting games, he only had one sack over the Ravens next seven games. But then starting in Week 12 he got back on track, racking up 6.5 sacks over his last seven games.
The 12-5 Baltimore Ravens made the playoffs and beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the wildcard round with KVN recording a single tackle. The Ravens fell to the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round despite Van Noy’s three tackles, two quarterback hits, and half a sack.
Kyle Van Noy’s Next Steps
Kyle Van Noy and the Baltimore Ravens are a perfect marriage for the later stages of the 33-year-old’s career. He’s under contract in 2025 with a very reasonable $6.1 million cap hit given his borderline Pro Bowl production, so expect him back in Baltimore next year.
And expect another solid season from him in 2025.
With 21.5 sacks over his last two seasons, Kyle Van Noy is only getting better with age.
