BYU Players in the NFL: Puka Nacua and Taysom Hill make NFL history, and Khyiris Tonga is a two-way star

Week 16 was the best week of football for former BYU players in the NFL. Taysom Hill and Puka Nacua made history (again), Khyiris Tonga is a two-way impact player, Tyler Allgeier was solid, and Sione Takitaki made his season debut.

The pipeline from Provo to the pros is strong, with 19 former BYU Cougars currently on NFL rosters. Here's how each of them performed in Week 16.

Tyler Allgeier, RB, Atlanta Falcons

Stats: 16 rushes, 76 yards; 1 reception, - 6 yards

The Atlanta Falcons finally employed a balanced rushing attack with both Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson logging 16 carries, and it resulted in a Falcons victory. Allgeier's workload has been all over the board this year. Here are his carries over his last eight games: 2, 11, 3, 12, 8, 11, 2, 16. On the season he now has 475 rushing yards, averaging 3.8 yards per carry.

Zayne Anderson, S, Green Bay Packers

Stats: No stats

The Packers lost a tough one against the Chicago Bears on Saturday, and Zayne Anderson broke his personal streak of seven consecutive games with at least one tackle. The special teams ace has 14 tackles over 13 games, making him two tackles short of his career high 16 that he set last year. He has also recovered two fumbles this season.

Tyler Batty, DE, Minnesota Vikings

Stats: 1 tackle

The undrafted rookie continues to contribute primarily on special teams. He now has nine tackles in 10 games this season for the Vikings.

Chris Brooks, RB, Green Bay Packers

Stats: 1 rush, 4 yards; 1 tackle

The third-year running back has carved out a great role with the Packers. He's regularly inserted on third down passing plays, touches the ball once or twice a game, and makes in impact on special teams. All of that was on display in the Packers game last week. On the season Brooks has 14 carries for 45 yards, 12 receptions for 80 yards, and an impressive 13 special teams tackles.

Michael Davis, CB, New Orleans Saints

Stats: No stats, 15 special teams snaps

The ninth-year veteran continues to contribute on special teams for the Saints, which he did again last week without registering any tackles. He has three tackles in 10 games this year.

Taysom Hill, TE, New Orleans Saints

Stats:  1-of-1 passing, 38 yards, 1 TD; 12 rushes, 42 yards; 4 receptions, 36 yards

After a very frustrating, largely unproductive season, we finally saw a vintage Taysom Hill game! The uniquely versatile BYU legend did it all in a Saints win including a touchdown pass, 42 rushing yards, and multiple receptions.

And with that performance, Taysom Hill once again made history by becoming the first player in the Super Bowl era to register at least 1,000 career passing, rushing, and receiving yards. It feels like Taysom's career may be coming to a close, and if that's the case, this is the perfect way for him to go out.

Puka Nacua, WR, Los Angeles Rams

Stats:  12 receptions, 225 yards, 2 TDs

The Rams may have lost a heartbreaker in overtime against the Seahawks on Thursday Night Football, but don't blame Puka! No matter what Seattle tried, they simply couldn't cover the former BYU superstar. His dominance was complete, thorough, and awesome. He was a man among boys.

Puka's 113.7 receiving yards per game leads the NFL. With his dominant performance last week he also tied an NFL record with 150-plus receiving yards in three straight games. Puka Nacua is the NFL's best wide receiver, hands down.

Ryan Rehkow, P, Cincinnati Bengals

Stats: 4 punts, 52.0 yard average, 4 inside the 20, 59-yard long

Ryan Rehkow is currently tied for first in the NFL in punting with his 51.3-yard average. All four of his punts last week ended up inside the Dolphins 20 yard line, so he did his part in flipping field position in the Bengals victory. With a strong finish to the season, Rehkow could set himself up for a Pro Bowl selection.

Kingsley Suamataia, OG, Kansas City Chiefs

Stats: Started, played 100% offensive snaps

Kingsley continues to thrive as the Chiefs starting left guard. While the Chiefs season is a disappointment after missing the playoffs and losing quarterback Patrick Mahomes to a torn ACL, it has been a fantastic year for Suamataia. The second-year stud is currently ranked No. 26 of 77 guards by PFF, and seemingly gets better every week.

Sione Takitaki, LB, Minnesota Vikings

Stats: 1 tackle

Rejoice, BYU fans! After being limited by injury last year with the New England Patriots, no team picked up Takitaki to begin the season and it looked like he might be out of the league. But then he got a late call from the Vikings and spent over two months on the practice squad before getting called up to the 53-man roster last week. Takitaki played 12 special teams snaps in his 2025 debut and registered his first tackle of the season, giving him 290 in his distinguished career.

Khyiris Tonga, DT, New England Patriots

Stats: 3 tackles; 3 offensive snaps

The Patriots pulled out a win on Sunday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens to get to 12-3 on the season, and Khyiris Tonga is a big part of the team's success this year. He started the game against the Ravens and contributed three tackles on defense. He was also deployed as a lead blocker on three offensive snaps, using his power to open holes for New England's running backs when needed.

Kyle Van Noy, OLB, Baltimore Ravens

Stats: 1 pass defended

It was another relatively quiet night for the former BYU legend. While Van Noy played 36 defensive snaps, he didn't record any tackles. Now, he did generate some pressures, including one that led to a rushed throw and a Ravens interception. His pass defended was also a spectacular play for a defensive end to make deep downfield and in the end zone to prevent a touchdown.
