BYU players in the NFL Week 11: Taysom Hill belongs in the Hall of Fame
By D.A. Sweat
Here’s the Week 11 summary of former BYU Cougars in the NFL. Power Rankings reflect this season's overall performance.
No. 1 - Fred Warner, LB, San Francisco 49ers
Stats: 3 tackles
Despite playing every defensive snap, the All-Pro had just three tackles and didn’t impact the game like he normally does in a loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
No. 2 - Puka Nacua, WR, Los Angeles Rams
Stats: 7 receptions, 123 yards, 1 TD
The second-year player showed once again why he is one of the best receivers in the NFL in helping the Rams to a victory over the New England Patriots. His fully-extended, diving touchdown grab is a thing of football beauty.
No. 3 - Taysom Hill, TE/HB, New Orleans Saints
Stats: 1-of-2 passing, 18 yards, 1 INT; 7 rushes, 138 yards, 3 TD; 8 receptions, 50 yards; 1 kick return, 42 yards.
Can we just put Taysom Hill in the Hall of Fame at this point under the “Football Player” category? What he did against the Cleveland Browns is simply incredible. In this game he became the first player in NFL history to have over 100 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, 50 receiving yards, and 10 passing yards. His 75-yard touchdown run makes him look like a player who’s 24 years old, not 34. Taysom Hill is pure football nirvana.
No. 4 - Kyle Van Noy, LB, Baltimore Ravens
Stats: 1 tackle, 1 QB hit
Despite a stout defensive performance, the Ravens lost an 18-16 heartbreaker to the Pittsburgh Steelers. While KVN only recorded one tackle and a single quarterback hit, he made contributions that didn’t appear in the stat sheet like routinely preventing Russell Wilson from escaping to the edge.
No. 5 - Tyler Allgeier, RB, Atlanta Falcons
Stats: 1 reception, -1 yard
Somehow, the bruising running back inexplicably played just four offensive snaps with one touch on the day. He also played 18 special teams snaps. Tyler was dealing with a quad issue during the week, so perhaps that factored into his invisible performance. Meanwhile, Bijan Robinson had 12 carries for 35 yards (2.9 YPC) and Jase McClellan got eight garbage time rushes 15 yards (1.9 YPC) as the Falcons were destroyed by the Denver Broncos.
No. 6 - Brady Christensen, OL, Carolina Panthers
Stats: Bye week
After starting the season on the bench, over the last few weeks Brady Christensen has been thriving as a starter at both center and left tackle. His PFF grade of 65.3 is solid for a player who has bounced around multiple positions across the offensive line.
No. 7 - Ryan Rehkow, P, Cincinnati Bengals
Stats: 5 punts, 50.0 average, 2 inside 20
Rehkow had a fine day punting with a 50 yard average. On the Bengals first possession he pinned the Chargers on the 10 yard line. The rookie’s average of 50.3 yards per punt ranks ninth in the league and his net average of 44.0 yards ranks sixth in the NFL.
No. 8 - Khyiris Tonga, DT, Arizona Cardinals
Stats: Bye week
Tonga got some rest during the bye week. On the season he has 15 tackles in nine games.
No. 9 - Chris Brooks, RB, Green Bay Packers
Stats: 2 receptions, 13 yards; 10 offensive snaps, 9 special teams snaps
Brooks continues to get meaningful reps with the Packers offense. He gets inserted into a series or two every game and Green Bay isn’t hesitant to put the ball in his hands. Over his last three games he has totaled 12 total touches with six carries for 29 yards and six receptions for 42 yards.
No. 10 - Jamaal Williams, RB, New Orleans Saints
Stats: Did not play due to groin injury
Jamaal missed his third consecutive game with a groin injury. He has 32 carries for 124 yards (3.9 YPC) on the season.
No. 11 - Sione Takitaki, LB, New England Patriots
Stats: 1 tackle; 18 defensive snaps; 12 special teams snaps
Takitaki continues to carve out a reserve role with the Patriots defense in his first season in New England. He appears fully recovered from the injury that cost him the beginning of the season.
No. 12 - Zayne Anderson, S, Green Bay Packers
Stats: No stats; 12 special teams snaps
Zayne didn’t record a tackle in this game, but he continues to be a key part of the Packers special teams.
No. 13 - Michael Davis, CB, Washington Commanders
Stats: No stats; 20 defensive snaps, 14 special teams snaps
In a promising turn of events, the Commanders secondary was banged up and Michael Davis saw 20 defensive snaps. He had been relegated mostly to special teams this year so it was nice to see him on the field against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football.
No. 14 - Kingsley Suamataia, OT, Kansas City Chiefs
Stats: Did not play (inactive)
Kingsley didn’t see the field in the Chiefs first loss of the season. The rookie normally plays a limited number of special teams snaps, but not in this one.
No. 15 - Blake Freeland, OT, Indianapolis Colts
Stats: 4 special teams snaps
The second-year player once again saw limited action on special teams.
Did Not Play:
Zach Wilson, QB, Denver Broncos (Inactive)
On Practice Squads:
Jaren Hall, QB, Seattle Seahawks
Dax Milne, WR, Carolina Panthers (newly signed on 10/30)*
Kedon Slovis, QB, Houston Texans
Max Tooley, LB, Minnesota Vikings
