Here’s this week's summary of former BYU Cougars in the NFL. Players are ranked based on their year-to-date performance.
The sad news for Cougar fans this week is cornerback Jakob Robinson was waived by the San Francisco 49ers practice squad. Robinson's currently a free agent, so let's hope he signs with a team soon and ends up back in this weekly column.
No. 1 - Fred Warner, LB, San Francisco 49ers
Stats: 17 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 QB hit
Wow! Just, wow! The BYU legend had 17 tackles this week. SEVENTEEN! Nobody does it better than Fred Warner at the linebacker spot, and the four-time All-Pro proved it yet again.
No. 2 - Puka Nacua, WR, Los Angeles Rams
Stats: Did not play - injury
Puka's weird season continues to just feel off. After hauling in five receptions in the Rams' first game of the season, Nacua hasn't played since due to a hip injury. The update from coach Sean McVay this week was that Puka "was not making great progress" toward his return.
No. 3 - Tyler Allgeier, RB, Arizona Cardinals
Stats: 2 carries, -1 yard; 4 receptions, 10 yards
It was a tough week for Tyler Allgeier. Rookie Jeremiyah Love had 21 carries to Allgeier's measly two. And on one of those carries Tyler got nailed by Fred Warner three yards deep immediately after receiving the handoff. If not for the four receptions, it would have been a day to forget for the fifth-year pro. It looks like we're going to be in for a long, long season of Tyler Allgeier watching from the sidelines as the Cardinals' first round pick (Love) gets force fed. Ugh.
No. 4 - Khyiris Tonga, DT, Kansas City Chiefs
Stats: 2 tackles
The sixth-year vet continues to contribute for the 3-0 Chiefs. In a win against the Dolphins he ate blockers, which is primarily what he's paid to do, and came up with two tackles. He's earning every dollar of his new 3-year, $21 million contract with Andy Reid and the Chiefs.
No. 5 - Kingsley Suamataia, OG, Kansas City Chiefs
Stats: Started at guard
Kingsley continues to start and hold his own at left guard for the undefeated Chiefs. It's not always easy to assess how good -- or bad -- an offensive lineman is performing. The most accepted standard is Pro Football Focus, and they rank Kingsley as the No. 50 guard in the NFL this year. He has held up better in pass blocking is is ranked No. 37 there.
No. 6 - Kyle Van Noy, DE, Minnesota Vikings
Stats: 5 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks
What a breakout game for the 13-year vet! Despite not joining the Vikings until earlier this month, the BYU legend found his way into the rotation through Minnesota's first two games with limited impact. But then in Week 3 he went nuts! KVN looked like his former Pro Bowl self with five tackles, three tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. He tweeted that he got the "game ball" for his outstanding outing.

No. 7 - Chris Brooks, RB, Green Bay Packers
Stats: 1 reception, 4 yards
The football world was shocked to see the Packers get destroyed by the lowly Atlanta Falcons 35-14 on Thursday Night Football. Maybe Green Bay's offense would have performed better if they had given Chris Brooks more than one touch? He played 27 offensive snaps but was used primarily as a blocker and a decoy.
No. 8 - Ryan Rehkow, P, Cincinnati Bengals
Stats: 2 punts, 42.0 yard average, 2 punts inside the 20
The third-year punter was called upon twice in the Bengals' loss in Week 3 and delivered both punts inside the Steelers' 20 yard line. His first punt was fielded at the 10 and returned five yards to the 15. His second punt was fair caught at the eight yard line. While the 42 yard average per punt isn't impressive, the location of those punts was.
No. 9 - Zayne Anderson, S, Miami Dolphins
Stats: No stats recorded
Zayne started Week 1 but has since been playing backup duty and as a mainstay on special teams. He played his part this week in another loss for the 0-3 Dolphins, but he didn't record any stats in this one.
No. 10 - Carsen Ryan, TE, Cleveland Browns
Stats: No stats recorded
As a seventh-round rookie, Carsen Ryan isn't getting many offensive snaps for the Browns quite yet, though he does have a nice role on special teams. The only mention of Ryan in the game book this week was being called for a holding penalty just prior to the Browns kneeling out the first half. Those are the types of seemingly minor mistakes a late-round rookie just can't make when given offensive snaps.
No. 11 - Jack Kelly, LB, New York Giants
Stats: No stats recorded
As a sixth-round pick, Jack Kelly is going to have to earn every snap he gets on a Giants team that features a deep linebacker corps. He has carved out a nice role on New York's special teams but didn't record any stats this week.
No. 12 - Zach Wilson, QB, New Orleans Saints
Stats: Did not play
Wilson is on the Saints roster as a backup quarterback but didn't play this week.
