Here’s this week's summary of former BYU Cougars in the NFL. Players are ranked based on their year-to-date performance.
BYU Cougars in the NFL Week 5 recap
No. 1 - Fred Warner, LB, San Francisco 49ers
Stats: 10 tackles, 1 QB hit, 1 forced fumble
The 49ers moved to 5-0 with a huge win over the Seahawks, and Fred Warner was a key reason why. The perennial Pro Bowler led his team with 10 tackles and a huge forced fumble. He now has 50 tackles through five games, putting him on pace for a blistering 170 tackles this year.

No. 2 - Puka Nacua, WR, Los Angeles Rams
Stats: 17 receptions, 138 yards, 1 TD; 2 carries, 9 yards
Oh. My. Goodness! Under the bright lights of Monday Night Football, Puka Nacua hauled in a career-high 17 receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown. His 17 receptions and his 21 targets both surpassed his previous career highs of 15 receptions and 20 targets. Puka was simply unguardable. The Bills knew Matthew Stafford was going time and again to the BYU legend, and they still couldn't stop him.
Not enough people know this, but Puka Nacua is the NFL's all-time leader in career receiving yards per game. Said differently, the former Cougar is the most productive wide receiver in NFL history. In Week 5 he only widened his lead. Amazing.
No. 3 - Tyler Allgeier, RB, Arizona Cardinals
Stats: 3 carries, 7 yards; 2 receptions, 9 yards
The 1-4 Cardinals are awful, and it's turning out to be another awful situation for Tyler Allgeier with his new team. After rushing for 1,035 yards as a rookie in 2022 for the Atlanta Falcons, he spent the next three seasons playing second fiddle to 2023 first round pick, Bijan Robinson.
After signing this offseason with the Cardinals, his new team then invested a first round pick in running back Jeremiyah Love. Ugh. Love had 12 carries for 22 yards in this one with Allgeier once again mostly watching from the sideline.
No. 4 - Kyle Van Noy, OLB, Minnesota Vikings
Stats: No stats recorded
For the first time this season, the former BYU legend didn't put any stats in the box score. The Vikings won again this week, moving to 5-0 on the season, and Van Noy is an important piece in their stout defense. On the season he has nine tackles and 1.5 sacks over five games.

No. 5 - Khyiris Tonga, DT, Kansas City Chiefs
Stats: Bye week
Tonga and the Chiefs were on a bye week, giving the sixth-year veteran a day off. He has locked down a starting role with Kansas City after signing with the Chiefs as a free agent this offseason, but his impact has been muted in his new home. He has three tackles over four games and PFF ranks him as the No. 104 of 131 defensive tackles thus far.
No. 6 - Kingsley Suamataia, OG, Kansas City Chiefs
Stats: Bye week
Another former BYU Cougar playing for Andy Reid's Kansas City Chiefs, and another bye week. Kingsley, a third-year pro, is the Chiefs starting left guard but was held out by coach Reid last week for what is being described as a disciplinary issue, but no specifics have been given. We'll see if he's back on the field next week.
No. 7 - Ryan Rehkow, P, Cincinnati Bengals
Stats: 3 punts, 51.7 yard average, 2 punts inside the 20
Finally, a breakout week for Ryan Rehkow! After being one of the better punters in terms of distance over his first two years in the NFL, averaging about 50 yards per punt, his average this year had fallen to 43.3 yards per punt. Now, some of this is situational with shorter punting opportunities and his 53.8% of his kicks being downed inside the 20 is a career high. Rehkow will be just fine.
No. 8 - Zayne Anderson, S, Miami Dolphins
Stats: No stats recorded
Anderson saw the field for the Dolphins but didn't register any stats this week. He had 10 tackles in his first four games this year before this week's donut. His snap counts are all over the place in his new home in Miami. He played 53 defensive snaps in Week 1, 15 in Week 2, zero in Week 3, then 29 in Week 4. Anderson is a pro's pro and will do whatever his team needs of him.
No. 9 - Jack Kelly, OLB, New York Giants
Stats: No stats recorded
The rookie sixth-round pick has been a special teams mainstay for the Giants this year, playing about 20 special teams snaps per game. In this week's bizarre tie against the Washington Commanders, Kelly came within inches of recording his first career blocked punt.
Jack Kelly was *this close* to blocking a punt for the Giants.

No. 10 - Carsen Ryan, TE, Cleveland Browns
Stats: Inactive this week
The rookie seventh-round pick had played on special teams in each of the Browns' first four games, usually seeing about 15 special teams snaps per game. But the rookie was inactive this week and we'll see what the future holds for him.
No. 11 - Zach Wilson, QB, New Orleans Saints
Stats: Inactive this week
Wilson is buried on the Saints depth chart and has yet to see the field this year.
