BYU Players in the NFL Week 8: Tyler Allgeier goes off, Puka Nacua shines, and what's up with Kingsley Suamataia?

There are 18 former BYU Cougars in the NFL. Here's how each of them did in Week 8 as Tyler Allgeier had a career game, Puka Nacua continues to dominate, and something fishy is going on between Kingsley Suamataia and coach Andy Reid.

Here’s this week's summary of former BYU Cougars in the NFL. Players are ranked based on their year-to-date performance.

No. 1 - Fred Warner, LB, San Francisco 49ers

Stats: Bye week

Just give Fred Warner his fifth All-Pro award already. He already has 72 tackles over seven games, putting him on pace for 175 tackles this year. The former BYU legend leads the league with four forced fumbles.

No. 2 - Puka Nacua, WR, Los Angeles Rams

Stats: 11 receptions, 80 yards, 1 TD

The Rams got a big win this week to get to 4-4 on the season, and Puka led the team once again in receptions (11), receiving yards (80), and had the team's only receiving touchdown. In six games he has 56 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns, putting him on pace for his third Pro Bowl in four NFL seasons.

No. 3 - Tyler Allgeier, RB, Arizona Cardinals

Stats: 11 rushes, 147 yards, 1 TD; 5 receptions, 44 yards, 1 TD

Finally! Tyler Allgeier broke out in his new team!

The fifth-year pro had struggled in his first seven games with the Cardinals. Coming into Sunday he had 61 carries for 176 yards and a touchdown, averaging just 2.9 yards per carry compared to a 4.1 yard career average. He nearly doubled his rushing yards with his monster Week 8 performance of 11 carries for 147 yards and a touchdown. He also reeled in 44 receiving yards and another score, giving him 191 scrimmage yards.

It was the best game of Allgeier's solid NFL career, surpassing his previous high of 139 rushing yards.

While he's primarily known as a power back, Allgeier showed his breakaway ability with a sweet 63-yard touchdown and another 52-yard run. Hopefully this game helps Tyler get the second half of his season on track. He's too good not to.

No. 4 - Kyle Van Noy, OLB, Minnesota Vikings

Stats: 1 tackle

It was a quiet day for Kyle Van Noy with just one tackle as his Minnesota Vikings lost for the first time of the season, falling to 6-1 to the Detroit Lions. On the season the 13-year veteran has 13 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and seven tackles for loss in seven games.

No. 5 - Khyiris Tonga, DT, Kansas City Chiefs

Stats: 2 tackles, 1 pass defended

The Chiefs lost in Week 8 to fall to 5-2, but Khyiris Tonga continues to do his part. Coming off a career-high six tackles a week ago, the massive interior lineman had two more tackles this week along with batting down a pass. On the season he has 12 tackles in seven games.

No. 6 - Ryan Rehkow, P, Cincinnati Bengals

Stats: 2 punts, 39.0 yard average, 50-yard long

It wasn't a great week for Rehkow. He only punted twice and neither was downed inside the 20 yard line. One punt was a nice 50-yarder, so the other was just 28 yards. The third-year punter isn't at any risk of being replaced, but his numbers are down from last year.

No. 7 - Kingsley Suamataia, OG, Kansas City Chiefs

Stats: Played but did not start

What's going on with Kingsley Suamataia?

After starting at left guard the entirety of last season, he entered 2026 as the team's incumbent starter. But he was benched earlier this year in a game as a "coach's decision" that many interpreted as a disciplinary issue. This week Mike Caliendo started over Kingsley again for a "coach's decision", though he did appear in the game.

This is a weird, developing situation.

No. 8 - Zayne Anderson, S, Miami Dolphins

Stats: No stats recorded

Zayne had a nice performance a week ago with four tackles filling in at safety for an injured teammate, but this week he returned to backup and special teams duty. He didn't record any tackles today, but he has 14 tackles in seven games.

No. 9 - Jack Kelly, OLB, New York Giants

Stats: Bye week

Kelly, a sixth-round rookie, got a week off with a bye in Week 8. As a special teams mainstay he has two tackles in seven games in his rookie campaign.

No. 10 - Carsen Ryan, TE, Cleveland Browns

Stats: No stats recorded

It was a crazy week for the seventh-round rookie. After appearing in six of the Browns first seven games, playing mostly special teams, he got waived earlier in the week, cleared waivers, signed with the Browns' practice squad, then was elevated to the 53-man roster this week and saw the field in Week 8.

His only stat thus far in his rookie campaign is one special teams tackle.

No. 11 - Zach Wilson, QB, New Orleans Saints

Stats: Inactive

Wilson is buried on the Saints depth chart and has yet to see the field this year.
