Everybody and their dog knows what it means when BYU forward AJ Dybantsa schedules an important announcement from his hometown of Brockton, Massachusetts. With the deadline to enter the upcoming NBA Draft quickly approaching, the consensus All-American forward's decision is simply a formality at this point.
Tomorrow, April 23, at 11:45 A.M. Eastern Time, AJ Dybantsa will officially declare for the NBA Draft.

At least, that would be the sensible decision.
With no context, this tweet comes off as incredibly vague and forboding. What could the best BYU basketball player of all time possibly have to announce? To the especially naive, all of Dybantsa's teasing and tongue-in-cheek dangling of the possibility of a return to BYU for his sophomore season could be interpreted as sincere. After all, with more high-profile recruits and a more well-rounded roster at his disposal, a returning Dybantsa would put Kevin Young's Cougars in the driver's seat to contend for a Final Four berth and a shot at the national championship.
Elite college basketball players have teased a return since the dawn of time. Names like Cooper Flagg, Ben Simmons, Markelle Fultz, and the like have all held their respective fanbases hostage as they mock the chance of a sophomore campaign.
"It could happen," they'll say. "I would love to come back for another year."
Don't fall for it. Don't take the bait.
I wholeheartedly believe that AJ Dybantsa loved his time at BYU. I sincerely believe that he would like to spend another year playing in Kevin Young's system and giving the college basketball gauntlet one more run before turning pro. But when a player is the projected number-one overall pick everywhere you look, that player would be a fool to delay their NBA dream, no matter how exciting an NIL package their alma mater could offer.
Especially considering the location of his announcement, Davis School in Brockton, MA, that seems like a more appropriate setting for thanking those who helped him along the way, rather than planting his flag at BYU.
Ace Dybantsa told @TheFieldOf68 there will be breaking news tomorrow at noon ET at the Davis School in Brockton regarding AJ Dybantsa.

Hearing UMass Boston could be the destination for next season.
So though this isn't an official report, AJ Dybantsa will be declaring for the NBA Draft tomorrow. Thank you for spending your college career at BYU, AJ, now go be an all-time great in the NBA.
