Call an ambulance: Egor Demin is literally on fire at the NBA Summer League

Can we get some medical staff to check this kid out? Because his game is sick.

Egor Demin is one of those enigmatic basketball prospects. Like Vegemite, many can't stomach an ounce of his game. Too limber for his own good, inconsistent with his jumper, and likely a target on the defensive end, his NBA outlook is far too hypothetical for some.

But for those who have seen the light and born witness to the future of Egor Demin's basketball capabilities, feel free to glance across the couch and shoot a telepathic "I told you so" to the doubting Thomas watching the NBA Summer League adjacent to you.

After an uneven start to his maiden performance, the jumbo Russian guard has taken to the skies, delivering long-range attacks at a 40% success rate and eviscerating the competition with smart, crafty, and tasty dimes to his teammates.

For a player whose jump shot could not be relied upon, he sure found something special in the first three mentions of his NBA story. Knocking through 3.0 of his 7.5 attempts per game is one thing, but passing the eye test isn't something he routinely accomplished during his year with BYU basketball.

Now, he's converting at a high clip with a high release, smooth trigger finger, and confidence of a man who knew what he had at his disposal all along.

Yeah, we're thinking Egor Demin is going to be a serviceable NBA player.

Still, he's been tossed around the offense in a mixed blend of packages that could be enough to baffle most players. Given his size and skillset, Egor is filtered out from most of his peers as something of an anomaly. What does he do well? Well, let's put him everywhere in the backcourt and see where he shines.

It'll take a minute for Egor to reach the summit of his potential, but his optimism and leadership may open avenues on his path. While mic'd up for ESPN, Egor's support and guidance has clearly been well-received by his teammates in Brooklyn.

His creativity as a distributor has been on full display, and his 3-point form is absolutely gorgeous in his early run with the Nets. With patience and deliberate development, Egor Demin could become something special at the pro level.

I'm putting my vote of confidence on this Coug.
