Anyone who's been to a BYU basketball game in the past decade and a half could tell you that the home floor of the Marriott Center is borderline unfair when it comes to providing an advantage to the defending Cougs. From the Mountain West, to the Big 12, and somehow someway even in the WCC, Provo, Utah, remained one of the most fearsome environments a visiting team could ever bear the misfortune of braving.
But outside of Provo, the Cougars' home court doesn't always get the respect it deserves. And who could blame the average college hoops fan for overlooking an LDS school in the state of Utah?
But those who know, know. And Ryan Hammer, a national college basketball analyst, clearly knows. Hammer recently revealed his top 10 home court advantages in all of college hoops -- P4 or otherwise -- and I was taken aback when I saw a blue oval housing a white Y on the list.
Always subjective talks on The "Best Home Environments" in College Basketball, but what does the data say?📊

No asterisks. No caveats. BYU basketball is firmly on the list, and there are no take-backsies in this kingdom.
BYU basketball sits firmly in the top 10 environments at number 10. Among locations like Rupp Arena, HIlton Coliseum, and Allen Fieldhouse, the Cougars are actually getting the attention and approval they deserve. Much of this recognition likely can be drawn back to the Cougars breaching the seal of the national stage thanks to two straight incredible seasons. Regardless of the state of the program, however, this list proves BYU has played host to one of basketball's premier environments.
The ROC, by transitive property, is obviously one of the strongest student sections in the nation. What makes BYU especially unique, however, is how it boasts both one of the best basketball and football home environments. Looking at the rest of the list, who else could claim that? Tennessee? Texas A&M? Great company.
It's so beautiful I may just weep.
