Up until this weekend, ESPN's College Gameday show had gone on the road for every weekend of the college football season in hopes of highlighting some of the greatest fanbases, traditions, and environments from the biggest and most exciting teams in the nation. But here was the catch: observant fans were quick to point out that every single featured matchup had involved schools from just two conferences, the Big 10 and SEC.
Naturally, both of those leagues feature some of the most talented and well-built programs in the entire country -- no one is denying that -- but the wide world of college football was tired of the apparent bias from which those two leagues benefit. The Big 12 and ACC especially voiced their gripes until Gameday could ignore them no further.
Just earlier today, the crew set up and broadcast from Salt Lake City, Utah, for a top 25 battle between Cincinnati and the University of Utah (it took all of a few seconds for "F*** BYU" chants to break out).
And now, for the second straight weekend, College Gameday is setting up shop in Big 12 country as the soon-to-be top 10 Cougars of BYU travel down to Lubbock, Texas, in what should be the climax of the conference calendar. BYU vs Texas Tech has been circled on the calendar all season, and with just one loss between them, the Big 12 will be back on display with the eyes of the nation upon them.
TEXAS TECH, ARE YOU READY?!

Apparently, fans can bully a giant institution like ESPN into submission. Remember that.
A game with Big 12 Championship implications, and therefore College Football Playoff implications, but unfortunately no disc-shaped Mexican cuisine implications (Tech made sure of that), BYU enters this road battle unblemished and fresh off a bye week's rest. Texas Tech, after dropping a battle with Arizona State, bounced back with a dominant Wildcat-flavored roast in Manhattan.
Two teams that could very well meet back in the conference championship game in Arlington, Cougars and Red Raiders will be the weekend's spotlight matchup, and a chance to plant your colors with the country as your witness.
