BYU one-and-done sensation Egor Demin is making history in his rookie season for the Brooklyn Nets. On Friday night, he set two significant NBA records in front of scores of adoring Cougar fans as the Nets faced the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City.
First, Demin set an NBA rookie record with at least one 3-pointer in 34 consecutive games, surpassing the former mark set by Rudy Fernandez and Landry Shamet.

The second way Egor made history against the Jazz was by becoming the first teenager in NBA history with at least five 3-pointers, 25 points, and 10 rebounds in a game.

On the night against the Jazz Demin hit six 3-pointers with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists. He shot a blistering 8-of-16 from the field, including 6-of-12 from deep, 3-of-4 from the free throw line, and committed just one turnover. It was the single best game of the rookie's career thus far, setting season highs in both points and rebounds, and it was especially meaningful having it happen in Utah.
Egor Demin's impressive rookie season
The two records Demin set against the Jazz illustrate both his consistency (34 consecutive games with a 3-pointer) and the 6-foot-9 guard's versatility (an efficient double-double).
More than a few NBA Draft analysts questioned the Nets decision to select Demin No. 8 overall in this past draft. In fact, in an ESPN survey of NBA executives following the draft the BYU star was voted as the "biggest reach" selected in 2025. One unnamed executive went so far as to proclaim he didn't see Egor as a starting NBA guard.
Would you like some barbecue sauce with your plate of crow, fellas?
Through 41 games Demin is averaging 24.9 minutes but in that time he's putting up 10.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 0.8 steals. Most importantly he's shooting 40.2% from the 3-point line on a healthy 6.2 attempts per game. Demin's outstanding marksmanship from deep is a testament to his work ethic and massive untapped talent. At BYU last year he connected on just 27.3% of his 3-point attempts, but he has turned that perceived college weakness into his biggest strength in the NBA.
For his outstanding season he was also named to the 2026 NBA Rising Stars game over All-Star weekend.
