BYU basketball has absolutely delivered to this point in the season. Just take a look at their record, 15-1, and tied for first in the Big 12 Conference standings in the year 2026. The Cougars, led by standout freshman AJ Dybantsa, golden-haired Hercules Richie Saunders, and unstoppable force of dribble penetration Robert Wright III, have aspirations to reach the Final Four in April.
I'm inclined to believe they're capable of achieving that goal, the first Final Four appearance in program history. Having only lost to Dan Hurley's UConn Huskies (by just two points), this team hasn't left much room for doubt.
The Kevin Young experience has been extremely positive at Brigham Young University. Now, a day removed from the Cougars' road win over rival Utah, it's time to set this team's sights on a mid-week meeting with Texas Christian at the Marriott Center.
The Horned Frogs, 11-5 to this point in the season with a 1-2 record against Big 12 Conference opponents, thankfully won't be playing host in this game. Not to make this personal, but the reptile skin, gray and purple playing surface is among basketball's ugliest. These two teams will clash on the naturally-colored court of the Marriott Center.
BYU is unblemished in Provo, 8-0 under the roof of the Marriott Center, and enter this game with an 88.1% chance to stay that way against the Horned Frogs, according to ESPN Analytics.
The Horned Frogs are led by 6'7" sophomore forward Davis Punch -- who may own one of the coolest names in all of sports -- a dynamic scorer and defender who leads the Horned Frogs in nearly every major category. Points? Punch, who has eight games of 17 points or more. Rebounds? Punch. Blocks? Punch, who is rejecting 2.6 shot attempts per night, and has posted seven games with three or more blocks.
Want to win this street fight? Don't get punched.
Here's everything you need to watch the ninth-ranked Cougars take on the Horned Frogs late on Wednesday.
