Following two straight conference losses, many following the program are beginning to wonder whether the state of Cougar hoops is really as rock-solid as we had hoped under Kevin Young.

The blowout to Houston was one thing, but the first home loss at the hands of Texas Tech in a winnable contest has forced onlookers to temper their expectations for this year's team--even with two NBA-level talents on the depth chart.

This is no time to panic, however, and we can take solace in looking ahead to the next two weeks of basketball, as BYU has a relatively favorable path to what may be a four-game climb to a 5-2 in-conference record.

Starting with a road battle against TCU this weekend and following with Oklahoma State, floundering Utah, and another struggling Pac-12 transplant in Colorado, four straight wins won't be easy, but could possibly be the kick in the pants this team needs to leap back into relevance.

In this impending gauntlet, pay close attention to how Egor and Kanon lift their teammates, watch how Saunders' hustle bonds Kevin Young's roster, and keep a close eye on how their shooting woes recover after hitting a measly 5 long-range attempts in the previous game.

Forget the last two games, the season starts today if this team hopes to make a tournament run. I believe they will, and you'd better tune in as this game isn't on ESPN+. Let's all breathe out a collective sigh of gratitude.
