Kentucky's Collin Chandler is 100% projected to transfer to BYU basketball

Mark Pope's recruit may bleed royal blue after all.

One glance at Collin Chandler's crystal ball, mere hours from entering the transfer portal, and his projected future shouldn't be surprising. By all measures, there's no reason to suspect that his list reads just bullet-point long: Brigham Young University.

Chandler, a once the highest-rated commit in BYU basketball's history, returned from his two-year mission to the news that Mark Pope would be packing up and heading to Lexington as the head coach for his alma mater, the Kentucky Wildcats. Chandler followed, leaving BYU basketball in a dark, dark place.

To put into perspective just how long ago Chandler's recruiting process took place, all photos of his official visit feature the WCC logo on his jersey. His arrival was long-anticipated, and his eventual change of course was gut-wrenching for a program on the verge of starting again from the ground floor.

Obviously, the Kevin Young effect has drastically changed the reality of hoops under the Marriott Center lights, and after a disappointing year for Big Blue Nation in Kentucky, BYU's proverbial "prodigal son" may be back on the trail to return home.

If you ask the experts at 247 Sports, there are no dissenting opinions as to where they expect Chandler to land -- he's 100% crystal-balled to (you guessed it) BYU.

The 247 crystal ball is a composite projection of the recruiting site's experts. Taking all the intel and news they can collect, they'll make a prediction of the player's likely landing spot, testing out which potential suitors are hot on the trail and which have lost their target's scent. Though only one expert has made a prediction during this early stage (Travis Branham), the fact that an expert jumped at Chandler's case so quickly after he entered the portal should be incredibly promising for Kevin Young's program.

Many see Chandler as the next iteration of the Richie Saunders mold -- a hustling, athletic, and hyperactive player who will give 100% at either end, and has the scoring talent to match it. Chandler knocked through 41% of his three-pointers as a sophomore at Kentucky, and still has room to grow in the auxiliary aspects of his game.

Kevin Young started coaching Richie Saunders as a junior -- matching timelines exactly with Chandler -- and helped him grow from fan-favorite glue guy to a first-team All-Big 12 player and the heartbeat of the program. He likely sees Collin Chandler as a potential heir to the Tater Tot King's throne.

BYU basketball is in the driver's seat for Collin Chandler. If the Farmington, Utah, native is looking for a change of scenery, few places in the nation make a better case than Provo.
