BYU basketball just sent in an offer to Malachi Jordan, a 5-star forward in the class of 2027. Malachi is not rumored to be a reclassification candidate, so his name will be one to watch for over the next year.

Kevin Young and his staff will not take their foot off the gas when it comes to recruiting top players in future classes just because the 2026 roster is still incomplete. That's evidenced by an offer sent in to Jordan, a 6'7" small forward rated 5 stars and 11th in the nation, according to 247 Sports composite rankings.
There's a sort of mesmerizing quality to Jordan's game that I can't help but recognize while watching his film at last year's Peach Jam event. His movements are loose and gentle, yet deliberate and calculated. He has the athleticism and explosion to elevate above the outstretched arms of helpless defenders from below, and the forethought to pick his battles, intentionally poke and prod until a weak spot in the defense reveals itself.
Though he's a capable shooter from distance, Jordan prefers to do his damage in the paint. Against high school-level defenders, this has worked incredibly well for him as he happily finished through contact and actively hunts attempts at the basket. He won't settle for threes very often, understanding that there's likely more value to be found with easy point-blank attempts at the rim, but he can hurt you if you disrespect his touch from distance.
Though his court vision and playmaking could use an uptick, you don't see many better small forwards at Jordan's age. He floats to the rim, glides across the court, and throws down lighting bolt dunks without the thunder. Watching him hoop is incredibly compelling.

Jordan is also fielding offers from programs like Washington, Missouri (both of which he's listed as showing "warm" interest on his 247 profile), Alabama, Texas Tech, Kansas, Indiana, Auburn, Tennessee, USC, Memphis, and more. It's not easy to recruit at the top of the class, but Kevin Young and Co. want to rub shoulders with the biggest and baddest in the world of college basketball. Adding a player of Malachi Jordan's caliber brings the Cougars one step closer to doing just that.
