Chase Roberts will go down as a BYU legend. He was BYU's best wide receiver over the Cougars outstanding run over the last two years with a 23-4 record and two Top 20 finishes. This week the 6-foot-4 wideout will be competing at the NFL Combine, showing scouts they would be smart to invest a draft pick in him. But before looking forward to Roberts' upcoming NFL career, let's take a look back at his five most impressive games as a BYU Cougar.
No. 5 - 2025 at Colorado
Stats: 5 receptions, 49 yards, 2 TDs
While Roberts' 49 receiving yards at Colorado aren't anything to write home about, his "clutch factor" in this game doesn't appear in a box score. Context is so important in this game, the only game in which Roberts scored two touchdowns. BYU was 3-0 and had just cracked the Top 25 as they traveled to Boulder. Behind Chase's two short touchdowns the Cougars went on to beat the Buffaloes in a tight 24-21 contest. BYU likely doesn't win this game without him, and this conference victory was key in the Cougars reaching the Big 12 championship game in 2025.
No. 4 - 2025 vs. Iowa State
Stats: 8 receptions, 128 yards
No. 11 BYU was 7-0 and hosting Iowa State when Chase Roberts went off for one of the best games of his career in a 41-27 Cougars victory. His eight receptions tied a career high while his 128 receiving yards were the fourth most he put up as a BYU Cougar.
No. 3 - 2025 vs. West Virginia
Stats: 4 receptions, 161 yards
This past season Roberts put up a career-high 161 receiving yards against the West Virginia Mountaineers, but despite his 40.3 yards-per-reception average he didn't score a touchdown. How does this happen you may ask? Well, he took a quick slant 85 yards on a catch-and-run, only to be dropped just a few yards short of the end zone. The Cougars went on to win 38-24 thanks to Roberts' career day.
No. 2 - 2023 vs. Cincinnati
Stats: 6 receptions, 131 yards, 1 TD; 1 rush, 1 yard
Chase had one of the best games of his storied career in BYU's first ever Big 12 conference win. His 131 receiving yards against Cincinnati was the second most of his career and he found the end zone in a 35-27 BYU victory. His 59-yard touchdown put the Cougars up 28-13 and they never looked back from there.
No. 1 - 2022 vs. Baylor
Stats: 8 receptions, 122 yards, 1 TD; 1-of-1 passing, 22 yards, 1 TD
In a thrilling double overtime victory over No. 9 Baylor, Roberts tied his career high with eight receptions. His 122 receiving yards was the fifth most in his college career. But in addition to his massive receiving numbers, Chase also threw the only touchdown of his BYU career on a 22-yarder to Jaren Hall in the third quarter. Roberts accounted for two touchdowns in BYU's 26-20 victory that ended with Cougar fans storming the field after a thrilling Top 10 home victory.
