Welcome to the BYU baseball Round-up! In these round-ups, we like to make a quick recap of events in the Cougars' season since our last update. As this is the first round-up of the season, each game since the beginning of the season will be mentioned in this roundup.

MLB Desert Invitational

BYU opened the season with 3 games in the MLB Desert Invitational, where teams got to play in Major League fields. The Cougars finished their 3-game slate with a 1-2 record.

Cali Road Trip

BYU followed their MLB Desert Invitational outing with a 4-game road trip against Cal and UC Davis. The Cougars got one win out of these 4 games and left with a 2-5 record.

Home, Sweet Home

Finally back home in Provo, the Cougars hosted former conference foe, Gonzaga. The Cougars turned around their poor starting record with a satisfying 3-game sweep of the Bulldogs in Miller Park. The Cougars evened out their record at 5-5 following this series.

Quick Trip to Vegas

BYU took off to Las Vegas to challenge the UNLV Rebels in a single-game series, where the Cougars found themselves victorious over a previously 9-2 Rebels team. BYU finally gets above .500 for the first time since their season-opening win over USC.

Big 12 Action

The Cougars got their first taste of the Big 12 this season in a 3-game road series against the West Virginia Mountaineers. In Big 12 country, the Cougars won their first game as a Big 12 member, though dropped two more contests in the process.

BYU picks up their schedule again on Tuesday, March 12 in Smith's Ballpark to take on the Utah Utes, who own a 9-4 record at the time of this posting but are currently in a series against Wazzu.
