This year's BYU basketball team has experienced an influx of NBA-level talent, but in a recent practice, it was senior guard Trey Stewart who stole the show by breaking an NBA Combine record.

The Cougars recently participated in "combine testing" which pushed the roster to their limits in participating in real, NBA-style combine tests to measure speed, agility, size, and athleticism. The standout player in these tests wasn't projected lottery selection Egor Demin, or projected first-rounder Kanon Catchings. It wasn't even Keba Keita--Utah transfer and certified freak of nature who broke the vertical test.

The most impressive result from NBA Combine testing was Trey Stewart, the fourth-year guard slated to come off the bench this season behind a loaded depth chart. In his attempt at the Pro 4-Way Agility test, Stewart posted a time of 9.8 seconds. That's enough to break the NBA Combine record for this test.

While this could have been an outlier of a performance, this result could spark a promising season for Trey, who's struggled to find consistent minutes with the BYU roster since his first year in 2021. I wouldn't expect a huge jump from Stewart, but to say that this record doesn't mean anything would be narrow-minded.

Hopefully this is the start of a breakout season for Stewart in his senior year!
