In a season that could inflict pain upon BYU football fans, a lone remedy has emerged: a preseason All-Big 12 selection. Cougar defensive end, Tyler Batty has been selected as one of five defensive linemen on the squad.

Of course, this "All-Big 12 team" won't come together to represent the conference in this year's College Football Playoffs, and unfortunately, you won't be able to play as this team in the upcoming release of EA Sports' College Football '25. This is an imaginary situation where the media selects the best players from around the conference and selects who they believe to carry the most talent in their respective positions.

In Tyler Batty's case, he's the only player on the BYU roster who earned the preseason honor.

Other notable selections to the team are quarterback Shedeur Sanders, running back and preseason Offensive Player of the Year Ollie Gordon II, tight end Brant Kuithe (who BYU will meet when the Cougars head north to take on Utah), and preseason defensive player of the year Travis Hunter.

While Batty's name doesn't carry the same level of pedigree as some other selections, he's been showing off some of the nicest throwback jerseys you'll see across college football this year.

Of course, no one cares what people thought in the preseason once the games have been played and the season is in the history books. The Cougars have a chance to rewrite the narrative surrounding the squad, and they'll look to in this upcoming year. Let's hope for a season that defies expectations, Cougar Nation.
