Here’s the Week 2 summary of former BYU Cougars in the NFL. Power Rankings only reflect each player’s 2024 season-long performance without factoring in previous seasons.
No. 1 - Fred Warner, LB, San Francisco 49ers
Stats: 9 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss, 1 interception, 2 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles
Oh. My. Goodness. Fred Warner put up one of the most dominant NFL stat lines you’ll ever see. Check out the videos here. The interception came at the 10 yard line with the Vikings threatening to score. One forced fumble came at the one yard line to prevent another score. This could be the year Warner wins NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
No. 2 - Ryan Rehkow, P, Cincinnati Bengals
Stats: 2 punts, 49.0 yard average, 42.5 net average
After lighting the league on fire in his NFL debut last week, the rookie punter had a more traditional Week 2 averaging 49 yards on two punts. That said, his 59.3 yard average on the season leads the NFL by nearly five yards per punt. Boom!
No. 3 - Kyle Van Noy, LB, Baltimore Ravens
Stats: 3 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 tackles for loss, 3 QB hits
KVN did his part to keep the Ravens in the game before falling 26-23. His first sack stopped a Raiders drive on third down to force a 51-yard field goal. His second sack came on 3rd-and-6 from the Baltimore six yard line to keep Las Vegas out of the end zone.
No. 4 - Jamaal Williams, RB, New Orleans Saints
Stats: 8 rushes, 39 yards
As he did in Week 1, Jamaal feasted once again in garbage time. Five of his carries came on the Saints last two possessions with the Saints up 44-19. On the season he has rushed for 77 yards with a touchdown, averaging 4.1 yards per carry.
No. 5 - Tyler Allgeier, RB, Atlanta Falcons
Stats: 9 rushes, 53 yards; 1 reception, 12 yards
Finally! Yes, Bijan Robinson is the lead back, but Allgeier should get at least 10 touches per game. He got them against the Eagles, produced an efficient 65 scrimmage yards, and did his part in helping the Falcons win on Monday Night Football.
No. 6 - Taysom Hill, TE, New Orleans Saints
Stats: 3 rushes, 18 yards; 1 reception, 1 yard
In addition to the modest stats, Taysom also drew a critical pass interference call on 3rd-and-9 from the Dallas 13 to extend a drive that ended in a touchdown. At the beginning of the fourth quarter he was ruled out due to a chest injury and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
No. 7 - Kingsley Suamatia, OT, Kansas City Chiefs
Stats: 2 holding penalties
It’s not uncommon for rookie left tackles to struggle early in the season, and that’s what’s happening to Kingsley as he cuts his teeth in the NFL. He committed two holding penalties this past week and on the season his 42.8 PFF grade is very subpar. But hey, Kingsley is starting on a Super Bowl contender and will only get better from here.
No. 8 - Khyiris Tonga, DL, Arizona Cardinals
Stats: No stats, 15 defensive snaps, 2 special teams snaps
Khyiris continues to play his part as a rotational player in Arizona, eating blockers at the line of scrimmage.
No. 9 - Michael Davis, CB, Washington Commanders
Stats: 1 tackle, 23 defensive snaps
Davis got the start in Week 2 but played just 23 defensive snaps (41% of the team’s total) along seven special teams snaps. Davis’s first season in Washington has gotten off to a slow start.
No. 10 - Zayne Anderson, S, Green Bay Packers
Stats: No stats, 14 special snaps
Zayne continues to serve as a special teams mainstay for the Packers.
No. 11 - Brady Christensen, OL, Carolina Panthers
Stats: 1 special teams snap
The Panthers are a dumpster fire and Brady has to mostly just watch from the sidelines as his team burns to ashes.
