BYU women's basketball has officially finished its first regular season in the Big 12. With the regular season in the books, that means it is time for Big 12 Postseason awards and honors. Two BYU Cougars found themselves on a couple of lists for the first time in their career.

Lauren Gustin was named to the All-Big 12 First Team of course for the first time as this is BYU's first year in the Big 12. Gustin has received All-Conference First Team honors before and this marks her fourth in four seasons at BYU. Gustin averages 17.3 points per game with a 50.1 field goal percentage and averages 15.4 rebounds per game. Gustin's 15.4 rebounds per game leads not just the Cougars and the Big 12, but the nation.

Kailey Woolston was the other Cougar to be honored as she was named an All-big 12 Honorable Mention as a freshman. As a freshman, Woolston led the Big 12 and ranked third in the nation in three-point percentage at 45.6 percent and averaged 13.4 points per game. Woolston was constantly finding ways to score as she scored in double figures on 24 of 31 games she played.

BYU finished the season over .500 with a 16-15 record but finished 6-12 in the Big 12. The Cougars are not likely to make the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament unless they can find away to win the Big 12 Women's Tournament. An automatic bid is the only hope BYU has now.

The Cougars finished as the only Big 12 newcomer not to have to compete in round one of the Big 12 Tournament. They will compete on day two as they receive a bye for being the 10-seed. BYU is set to take on seven-seed Kansas on Friday, March 7 at 5:30 p.m. CT.
