As Utah's snow turns to rain, BYU's football team is getting ready to kick off their spring practice. But the Cougars' home field won't be available for practice, as LaVell Edwards Stadium's playing surface is redone for the next season.

"[Spring ball] is going to be different because we’re not going to have the stadium available to us. We’re redoing the surface and all of that stuff."
Kalani Sitake per KSL Sports

The field at LES was in noticeably poor condition last season, with players slipping all over the field in games against Iowa State and Oklahoma. At times, all the slippage made the theme from Benny Hill feel more appropriate than the bumping pop music that usually fills the air around the stadium.

Spring ball gets started on Leap Day, Thursday, February 29th and will go through March 30th, with the Spring Football Scrimmage game taking place on March 22nd. The annual alumni game will also take place on March 22nd, with participants and more information to be announced in the coming weeks.
