In case you haven't checked your patent-pending Egor Demin-themed calendar in the past week, I feel it's my responsibility to inform you that the NBA preseason is officially underway. Yes, actual honest-to-goodness professional hoops are back on the menu in the United States of America.
For BYU fans, this can only mean two things: you'll have your eyes glued to the Utah Jazz (or whatever competent basketball franchise with which you choose to pledge your allegiance, if that's your thing) and the Brooklyn Nets. Why the Nets, one of the most historically inept and frustrating viewership products in all of the NBA? Well, for those of you who struggle with headlines, that's the professional home of BYU basketball's one-and-done phenom, Egor Demin.
But a quick scan of the stat sheet would probably surface more questions than answers for those on the lookout for Demin's production. Why? Well, he's not listed. Anywhere.
Don't panic, this isn't a big deal, he's just nursing an injury. A tiny little tear in his plantar fascia that's had him sidelined for a few weeks. We ask that you respect Demin and his family's privacy during this trying time.

But his date for return is set, and so too can you lock in the countdown for his first professional appearance on your television set. Crank the dial, get comfortable, and please maintain a steady and consistent heart rate as well as you are capable. Slow, deep breaths, my friend. Nice and easy.
Per CBS Sports, the Nets' eighth overall selection and telephone pole of a man, Egor Demin, is set to return to action on opening night.
"Demin continues to recover from a plantar fascia tear, though he still hasn't been cleared for contact in practice. With Brooklyn exercising caution with the rookie first-rounder, it's possible he'll be unable to get any preseason reps."
I'm sorry if you had already dug out your comically large fur hat, pet grizzly bear, and a hearty bowl of ice and potatoes, but the Russian will be sidelined until the regular season is underway on Wednesday, October 22nd in Charlotte.
