NBA Draftniks can argue about pick 2-through-whatever as much as they want, but the No. 1 spot belongs to AJ Dybantsa.
Dybantsa ended the discussion Thursday night when he almost carried the Cougars past Texas and into the second round of the national tournament. The consensus All-American had 35 points and 10 rebounds while playing all 40 minutes in the loss to the Longhorns.

It stinks for fans of college basketball. We deserved more than one game from Dybantsa in the tournament. Even though BYU was the higher seed, the Cougars have been undermanned since senior Richie Saunders was lost with a torn ACL.
AJ Dybantsa will be the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft
Without Saunders, the second-leading scorer on the Cougars at the time of his injury, it was going to be tough for the Cougars to make a deep run, but the hope was that Dybantsa could catch fire on the level of what Carmelo Anthony did to lead Syracuse to a national championship in 2003. Dybantsa did the best he could and Texas had no answer for him on the floor, but at times it looked similar to LeBron James carrying the 2007 Cleveland Cavaliers as far as he could before time ran out.
"I think there's not guys like AJ that come around too often, right? I think we tried to build it around a unique player," Sean Miller said.
This play sums up BYU’s season. AJ Dybantsa is doubled 40 feet away from the basket and every single teammate just STANDS THERE. No one took a single step into any open space. pic.twitter.com/krH9heXL1o

This is going to be one of the best NBA Draft classes in history. There's Kansas guard Darryn Peterson, Duke's Cameron Boozer, Arkansas' Darius Acuff, Alabama's Labaron Philon Jr. and don't forget North Carolina's Caleb Wilson, who I believe will be the second-best player in the draft.
But much like the loaded 2003 class that included Melo, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade in four of the first five picks, there was never a doubt that LeBron was going to be No. 1. And there shouldn't be a doubt now. Dybantsa is the top guy.
