You thought he was finished? No sir, get ready to see Trevin Knell don the stars and stripes in the next chapter of his basketball story.
Per an Instagram story post from his wife, Tatum Knell, the former BYU super-duper senior (and oldest collegiate basketball player in the nation thanks to his mission and an extra covid year) announced he will become the newest member of the Team USA 3x3 basketball roster.

As many of you have likely connected by now, Team USA 3x3 is nothing new for BYU sharpshooters, as the national team of the offshoot game was the final professional stop of Jimmer Fredette. During Trevin's time with the BYU basketball program, he became one of the deadliest distance threats as he knocked through 42.9% of his 3-balls as a senior and 39.8% through his career.
Boasting unquestionable confidence with every catch-and-shoot attempt, he'd happily attempt to shoot an apple off someone's head, even falling away or with a hand in his face. Please don't relay that information to William Tell -- the ramifications could be catastrophic.
The connection to Jimmer is no coincidence, either, as Fredette is the current managing director of the team following his retirement. Yes, this decision was finalized by one former Cougar handing the baton to another. Knell will have to adapt to a newer, wackier form of basketball. If it bears any resemblance to the modern game, however, don't be surprised to learn that a deadeye from distance is one of the most crushing advantages a team could possess.
Though we still don't know his projected role with the team or whether he's expected to join the side in the next Olympic games, Trevin's professional career will be one that basketball fans around the country follow closely as the 3x3 game grows in popularity.
