BYU currently has 18 players on NFL rosters. Here's a full recap of how each of them performed in the first week of the 2025 preseason:
Zayne Anderson, S, Green Bay Packers
Anderson started the game but injured his knee early, making his first tackle of the game, ending his day. The fifth-year pro is an important special teams contributor and a key backup at safety.
Tyler Batty, DE, Minnesota Vikings
After somewhat surprisingly going undrafted this year, Batty made an impact in his first NFL appearance. He had one defensive tackle, two special teams tackles, and deflected a pass that led to an interception. Despite his undrafted status, Batty could be positioning himself to make the 53-man roster this year.
BYU’s Tyler Batty might be a UDFA, but he’s going to make the Vikings 53-man roster and make an impact as a rookie.

Chris Brooks, RB, Green Bay Packers
Brooks had five carries for 17 yards, averaging 3.4 yards per carry. He also recorded a tackle on the day. Entering his third NFL season, he rushed for 183 yards for the Packers last year and is fighting for a more prominent role in 2025.
Brady Christensen, OL, Carolina Panthers
The former third-round pick started at left tackle and played 35 offensive snaps (62% of the team's total). In his four previous seasons in Carolina, he has bounced between all five positions on the offensive line, including playing some center last year. He's currently listed as the backup left tackle on the team's depth chart.
Caleb Etienne, OT, Cincinnati Bengals
The undrafted rookie free agent played 21 snaps (31% of the team's total) at left tackle, giving himself an important opportunity to prove to the Bengals coaching staff that he deserves a spot on the roster or the practice squad.
Blake Freeland, OT, Indianapolis Colts
The former fourth-round pick played all 80 offensive snaps for the Colts, making him the only player on offense to do so. As Freeland enters his third NFL season, he's second on the depth chart at left tackle behind Bernhard Raimann. Blake had a good game overall, including this block that sprang a long quarterback run.

Darius Lassiter, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
As an undrafted rookie, Lassiter made his NFL debut with zero receptions on one target. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound receiver is going to need to shine in the coming weeks to stick in Jacksonville, likely on the practice squad.
Ryan Rehkow, P, Cincinnati Bengals
Rehkow punted five times, averaging 45.2 yards per punt with two inside the 20-yard line. As a rookie last year, he quickly nailed down the starting punter gig in his first NFL season. He enters Year 2 as the incumbent starter.
Keon Slovis, QB, Houston Texans
The former BYU quarterback went 11-of-15 for 71 yards while taking two sacks in his 2025 debut. After spending last year on the Texans' practice squad as an undrafted rookie, he's currently listed as the fourth-string quarterback in Houston.

Kingsley Suamataia, OL, Kansas City Chiefs
After struggling at tackle as a rookie last year, the Chiefs have moved the 2024 second-round pick to guard. He started the team's first preseason game and will be battling for playing time this year at his new position.
Khyiris Tonga, DL, New England Patriots
Entering his fifth NFL season with his fourth team, Tonga made his Patriots debut playing 13 defensive snaps (18% of the team's total) and one on special teams without recording any stats. He's currently listed as the team's starting nose tackle on the Patriots' unofficial depth chart.
Zach Wilson, QB, Miami Dolphins
Entering his fifth NFL season and first with the Miami Dolphins, Zach had an up-and-down performance. He went 5-of-9 passing for 96 yards with no turnovers while rushing twice for 16 yards. The Dolphins scored touchdowns on the first two drives he led.
However, he also took four sacks and missed a couple of open passes when pressured. He threw behind his receiver on an out route toward the sideline and it should have been an easy pick-six but the defender simply dropped the ball. Wilson's biggest stumbling block is his penchant for holding the ball too long inviting both pressure and sacks, and this negative trait was on display in his first preseason game.

Jakob Robinson, CB, San Francisco 49ers
Playing in his first NFL action as an undrafted free agent, Robinson recorded one tackle for the 49ers. In the third quarter, he dropped a Broncos receiver for a two-yard loss. He has made a great impression at camp and should stick around somewhere with the 49ers, whether that's on the 53-man roster or on the practice squad remains to be seen.
Here's a status report on the #49ers' rookie class, one that ranks them 1-18
