Week 10 AP Top 25 ranking prediction: BYU and Indiana climb as they remain unbeaten
College football remains a ceaselessly dynamic ocean of wins, losses, upsets, and heartbreak. The AP top 25 rankings are mere humans' attempt at organizing and making sense of the turf-bound mania on every football field across the United States every weekend.
Despite the trivial nature of this numbering system, these rankings stir up plenty of emotion. Like losing a game of Mario Party on the bonus stars, you'll be filled with rage. But just as that video game is nothing more than 1s and 0s, these rankings are just meaningless numbers. Is the 13th-ranked team really the 13th-best squad in their designated league? It's actually impossible to know.
So, while I'm going to predict this week's AP Poll, please keep in mind that I'm making a prediction of how I think these rankings will play out. This is not my personal top 25 (you'll likely notice that BYU isn't in the top 5), but rather a projection of what the official rankings may look like while taking into account factors like poll inertia, last week's results, and things of that nature.
BYU and Indiana remain the biggest surprises in college football after taking down their 8th straight foes. Meanwhile, the rest of the top 25 saw some shocking results as top-10 LSU fell victim to the upset goblin. Illinois, Navy, Missouri, and Vanderbilt all likewise suffered unfortunate losses toward the bottom of the standings, and will likely drop from the top 25. It breaks my heart.
You never know how the voters will view the results of week 9 until the actual polls are revealed. But with all that prefaced, how about we take a guess?
