Zach Wilson, Tyler Batty impress and a full report of how all 20 BYU players in the NFL fared in preseason Week 2

Zach Wilson is finding his groove in Miami. Tyler Batty keeps producing like a veteran, not an undrafted rookie. Jakob Robinson makes his case to land on the 49ers 53-man roster. And sadly, Blake Freeland fractures his leg in a brutal injury for the third-year NFL player.

Tyler Batty, DE, Minnesota Vikings

For the second straight preseason game, Tyler Batty had a solid performance. In just 16 defensive snaps, the undrafted rookie had two defensive tackles and a quarterback hit. He also played seven special teams snaps and recorded a tackle. Batty’s going to make the 53-man roster and play this year -- book it!

Chris Brooks, RB, Green Bay Packers

The third-year pro ran the ball two times for five yards, including converting on fourth-and-1 on the game’s first possession. He had a good season for the Packers last year with 36 carries for 183 yards and should land on the 53-man roster again.

Brady Christensen, OT, Carolina Panthers

Brady started at left tackle, played a lot of reps, and was flagged for a holding penalty in the third quarter. He’s entrenched as a backup tackle and guard on the Panthers roster and could easily get called upon to start if Carolina’s offensive line faces injuries this year.

Caleb Etienne, OT, Cincinnati Bengals

The undrafted rookie found the field late in the game for a brief drive on Monday Night Football. His night was unremarkable, but at least he was able to put some play on tape for the Bengals and other NFL teams to analyze.

Blake Freeland, OT, Indianapolis Colts

In a brutal blow, Freeland suffered a significant injury when he fractured his leg in the second quarter. After two up-and-down NFL seasons, the third-year pro and former fourth round pick needed a strong 2025 to show he can stick in the league as a starter. Our prayers go up to Blake and his recovery.

Kaleb Hayes, CB, Chicago Bears

In a promising sign, Hayes was signed last week after the Bears first preseason game. Last year he spent some time with the New York Giants and Denver Broncos in the preseason. He signed a futures contract with the Green Bay Packers in January 2025, then recently signed with the Bears. In his first action of 2025 he played 14 defensive snaps and two special teams snaps, recording two tackles.

Darius Lassiter, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars

The undrafted rookie entered the game, but didn't record any stats. The game book isn't showing snaps played as of publication, so it appears to have been a quiet week for Darius.

Ryan Rehkow, P, Cincinnati Bengals

The second year special teams starter was busy on Monday Night Football, punting four times. Two of his punts were downed inside the 20 with one being fair caught at the 15 and another rolling down to the five yard line. If the gunner had been a little more aware, that punt could have been downed at the one.

Jakob Robinson, CB, San Francisco 49ers

As a very promising undrafted rookie free agent this year, Robinson played 26 defensive snaps (42% of the team's total) and seven on special teams as San Francisco's front office continues to evaluate the talented defensive back. He didn't record any stats this week, but he's trending in the right direction in his quest to make the 53-man roster.

Kedon Slovis, QB, Houston Texans

The second-year quarterback went 5-of-12 for 51 yards with no touchdowns or turnovers. He rushed for nine yards against the Panthers on a nice scramble for a first down. He spent last year on Houston’s practice squad and is showing enough to probably stick with the team again this year, likely on the practice squad once again.

Max Tooley, LB, Minnesota Vikings

This week Max played 11 special teams snaps, but zero snaps on defense. His only registry in the box score was being flagged for a special teams holding penalty, which is a bit deflating. As an undrafted rookie last year it looked like he might defy the odds and make the 53-man roster. Instead he ended up spending the season on the practice squad. He is currently listed as a fourth string linebacker on the Vikings unofficial depth chart, which is a precarious place for a second year UDFA.

Khyiris Tonga, DT, New England Patriots

Tonga started Week 2 of the preseason for the Patriots and recorded one tackle. The fifth-year pro is listed as the starting nose tackle on New England’s unofficial depth chart.

Kingsley Suamatia, OG, Kansas City Chiefs

The second-year offensive lineman started at left guard and played 10 snaps in this one. He’s currently listed as the starting guard on the Chiefs unofficial depth chart.

Zach Wilson, QB, Miami Dolphins

For the second straight preseason game, Zach Wilson looked sharp leading the Dolphins offense. He went 15-of-23 passing for 151 yards and a touchdown. He also took just one sack, a marked improvement when compared to last week.
