25. Young BYU squad tops Veteran Princeton group (2016)

Oh, that hype machine.

In the season opener for BYU, there were storylines aplenty. A young Cougar team loaded with talent against the veterans Tigers. The first real challenge for the finally-assembled Lone Peak Three in a raucous Marriott Center. A game billed as an early meeting between two teams penciled into the NCAA tournament.

Too bad about all the erasing later.

But at the time, this was a great matchup that the Cougars took with style. Before a team gutted by injury and inconsistency had reared it’s ugly head, this was a great game that said this group could be something. And maybe, that they still might.
