#2 Women’s Basketball Wins WCC Tourney, Goes to NCAA Tournament

Some may believe the football win over Wisconsin was a bigger team accomplishment. However, the NCAA Tournament and March Madness as a whole is what college basketball is all about. After a 2018 season where the girls failed to qualify for the NIT, making the NCAA Tournament is about as big as it can get. Making it to the tournament makes any basketball team relevant. It makes basketball mean something.

Led by three incredible guards in Junior Brenna Chase, Sophomore Paisley Johnson, and Freshman Shaylee Gonzales, the cougars beat a top 15 ranked Gonzaga three different times in the season, including an 82-68 routing in the WCC title game. With selection Monday creeping up, it will be interesting to see the seeding that the ladies get heading into the tournament.
