I know we're only a few months into the college basketball offseason, but with more former BYU Cougars breaching the threshold of the NBA than ever before, it can be exciting to keep tabs on the faces that have passed through the Marriott Center in the next stage of their basketball career.
There's no better place to start than the Summer League, a run of games in which young players will get the chance to face off against each other with real NBA coaching, teammates, and the eyes of the nation locked on in the hopes of seeing flashes of brilliance from the incoming generation.
But BYU fans will have their eyes laser-focused on the matchups of former Cougars most of all, and both AJ Dybantsa -- this year's number-one overall pick, you may have heard of him -- and Egor Demin will be lacing up in the Summer.
If you want to see these former fan-favorites in an NBA environment, there's no better way to whet your appetite. So here are the schedules for both of these stars' respective organizations, with Richie Saunders unfortunately absent as he recovers from his ACL injury.
AJ Dybantsa, Washington Wizards Summer League
July 9th: Utah Jazz, 9:00pm (ESPN)
It's Dybantsa vs Peterson for the first time since the pair met as Big 12 foes. Peterson has typically gotten the better of Dybantsa throughout their basketball timelines, but who knows if Dybantsa can flip the script in his first Summer League appearance?
July 12th: Sacramento Kings, 9:00pm (Prime)
Darius Acuff received plenty of buzz as a contender for a top-three pick while he tore through the SEC with Arkansas, but after slipping in the order, he'll have a statement to make against the actual top pick.
July 14th: Chicago Bulls, 9:00pm (Prime)
It's Dybantsa vs Caleb Wilson. The pair met in a preseason game in the Delta Center last year, where BYU knocked off the Tar Heels.
July 15th: Los Angeles Clippers, 10:30pm (ESPN)
Keaton Wagler marks a new direction for the goofball Clippers. Dybantsa can make a statement in his final Summer League battle.
Egor Demin, Brooklyn Nets Summer League
July 4: Sacramento Kings, 3:00pm*
*Already played, Demin scored 23 points in his sophomore opener.
