BYU football has been pulling out all the stops in hopes of securing the best LDS talent currently available in the class of 2027. Blake Wong is a four-star wide receiver out of Norco, California, and has narrowed down his top schools to BYU, Ohio State, Oregon, UCLA, and Utah.

That's some stiff competition for an LDS talent, and BYU football wants him badly with the team's receiver room dwindling more and more every month. First it was Chase Roberts' exit, which came by way of the NFL Draft, followed by Parker Kingston's legal troubles forcing him to leave the university, and finally Cody Hagen retiring from football altogether after a long battle with injuries.

But now that Wong has completed the first few stops in his circuit of official visits -- planning soon to take a trip to Provo following his June 5th visit to UCLA -- he's set to announce his commitment at the end of the month. Plenty of time between now and June 27th to think things through, Wong's decision will be greatly anticipated by some of the nation's most prestigious programs.

I wrote the following on Wong when he first announced his official visit dates:

"While faith is a factor in Wong's recruiting process, at the end of the day, he'll be making a decision based on not only how he fits within a program's culture, but also how well he'll fit on the field.:

"As an elite athlete and exceptional playmaker down the field, it'll be difficult to convince Wong that BYU provides him a better opportunity than two annual inclusions in the College Football Playoff, Oregon and Ohio State."

"His ultimate goal is to play in the NFL, so Kalani Sitake will need to lean on recent success with players like Puka Nacua and Chase Roberts to convince Wong that Provo is the place to prepare him for that next step."

Mark June 27th on your calendars, because if BYU can add an athlete like Wong as an option for QB Ryder Lyons, the Cougars pass game could be much healthier than it appears today.
