BYU football hasn't been shy about its interest in 4-star LDS wide receiver Blake Wong, who has kept the Cougars in his list of finalists despite major offers from giants like Ohio State and Oregon.
Especially after missing out on Bode Sparrow, the top recruit out of the State of Utah and newest commit to Oklahoma, the need for a significant recruiting win is only magnified.
To even be competing with some of the biggest programs in college football is rarefied air for a BYU football program now flourishing in the new era of college athletics. Now clashing for another big-time recruit and playing with the big boys once again, it's clear that Wong's connection to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (BYU's sponsor organization) won't be enough to push his interest to Provo.
Despite this, it seems Kalani Sitake and his recruiting staff have still made an excellent case, as Jeff Hansen and 247 Sports have made a crystal ball projection for Wong to land with the BYU Cougars.
With medium confidence, but a 100% crystal ball to the Cougars, fans should feel very encouraged to see BYU football take the lead.
Thank you @BYUFBRecruiting for an amazing visit. So grateful for all the coaches and support staff #GoCougs 🤙🏼@kalanifsitake @fsitake @CoachRoderick @BYU_CoachJustin @Raelon_S @Bbradley_BYU @anniebarham_ @NickBauer7BYU pic.twitter.com/rZlw8A5oeX

Wong was impressed during his initial recruiting visit to Provo, sharing how important it was that the team's priorities aligned so well with his own.
"I am the only receiver they are even going after in the 2027 class," the four-star wide-out shared with 247 Sports in the aftermath of his official visit to Provo. "And that has meant a lot just knowing how highly they think of me and what I could mean for their program in the future."
And it's true. Despite recruiting several athletes who played both sides of the ball in high school, Wong is the only dedicated wide receiver on BYU football's radar for the class of '27, even with plenty of question marks arising in the Cougars' dwindling receiver room after the retirement of Cody Hagen and the arrest and subsequent separation from Parker Kingston.
