BYU basketball targets Adan Diggs and Demarcus Henry are the number-one and number-two ranked prospects, respectively, in the class of 2027. And according to a recent report from Rivals, the duo could be eyeing a chance to team up in their singular season of college basketball, similar to Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper with Rutgers, or Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett, and Cam Reddish at Duke.
"I asked [Adan] Diggs whether he has had discussions with his EYBL Vegas Elite teammate, Demarcus Henry, a fellow five-star recruit, about potentially teaming up in college. His response was: 'Of course. Every day."
Of the programs these two future stars are considering, Kevin Young's BYU basketball team is one of just four in the cross-section.
The Cougars are in the mix among elite recruiters in Kansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina.

BYU basketball has secured a five-star freshman's commitment every season since hiring former Phoenix Suns assistant coach Kevin Young, whose promise to develop young stars into future NBA draftees delivered prospects like Egor Demin, AJ Dybantsa, and Bruce Branch III (who will lace up for the Cougars this season) in consecutive draft rounds.
Still without a five-star commitment in the class of 2027, Kevin Young could get two for the price of one if the Cougars can manage to sway one of Diggs and Henry.
Of course, the desire to partner up with your friend in college basketball is one thing, and executing on that plan is another altogether. In practice, it's been a bit messy for teammates' draft stock, as one typically climbs at the expense of the others when they share the same basketball. Just ask Duke's trio, which saw Williamson climb to the top spot as Barrett and Reddish were bumped down a spot or two in the order. Or, more appropriately, Rutgers' partnership which sent Dylan Harper soaring and Ace Bailey tumbling to the fifth pick.
That Rutgers team didn't win many basketball games despite wielding two NBA lottery picks -- BYU basketball would hope to learn from the pitfalls of the AJ Dybantsa season and build a more well-rounded roster around any propsective superstars.
Snagging a 5-star is no small feat, despite what Kevin Young and his staff may be communicating with their consistent stretch of recruiting success. But when superstars could arrive in a bundle, it's hard to ignore the possibilities.
