BYU basketball has no affinity for destination competitions this season, yet the powers that be insist they take their roster to CU Events Center in Boulder, Colorado for a Big 12 battle with the Buffaloes.

On paper, this should be a relatively carefree victory for a BYU basketball team that is tired of receiving reality checks in the early season. Even ESPN's game predictor believes BYU has a notable advantage against the 9-8 Buffs. But after losing two of three games in a very winnable stretch of TCU, Oklahoma State, and Utah, the Cougars have yet to finish the job on the road.

For every overperformance by the football team this season, the "sure-thing" basketball squad seems to be paying destiny's considerations. Major wins throughout the Big 12 schedule on the gridiron are being atoned on the hardwood. A blowout win against Houston? Basketball was a different story. A one-point win in Salt Lake City? The Utes replied with a win one notch ahead of the Cougs.

Remember the Alamo? If this trend continues, BYU basketball may be in for a rude awakening in Boulder.

I'm not a superstitious man, but I always say there's no such thing as a guaranteed win in the Big 12. This game is no exception.

Colorado enters this meeting with a 0-6 Big 12 record. A one-point loss to UCF and a one-point win to reigning champion UConn show this team is capable of anything--good or bad--and they'll smell blood in the water once BYU hops in the pool.

A great opportunity for Egor or Kanon to enjoy an NBA film night if they can find a rhythm quickly. Both have struggled severely since beginning conference play, but the 9-8 Buffs may offer enough cushion to allow these Cougars a shot of confidence.
