That time of year is finally upon us. You'll see it in your Instagram feed, on your X scroll, heck, your mother-in-law may even send her copy through the mail. Spotify Wrapped is upon us, and there will be no survivors. If not Spotify, then Apple Music and whatever knockoff yearly review they've conjured up. Even now, in your BYU sports coverage, you are not safe from hearing all about my favorite songs as if you even cared.

One short list of your favorite songs and artists of the year, courtesy of your music streaming overlords. Do not try to resist.

My personal musical recap? Well, I could tell you all about my undying love for bands like Peach Pit, The Japanese House, or Joe Hisaishi (you mastermind, you), but you've clicked on an article from Lawless Republic, and I'll do everything in my power to keep the focus on BYU.

So if BYU fandom had a Spotify Wrapped at all, what would be on the list? Whose groovy tunes would grace our eardrums? What highlights of the season necessitate a ballad, an anthem, or any sort of musical tribute?

Well, the musical prowess of BYU newcomers, Bear and Tiger Bachmeier, has certainly taken to the internet, as they've been spotted popping into retirement homes with guitars strapped to their backs and Country Roads on the mind. Perhaps John Denver and Cosmo have always been kindred spirits.

BYU football has certainly been feeling the blues with endless disrespect from the College Football Playoff selection committee. Kalani Sitake's football team has given you their heart, CFP. Why are you so emotionally unavailable in their time of need? Is it a fear of commitment? Are you worried that you'll become some washed-up has-been like the BCS?

Few felt a greater wash of emotion than BYU fans when it appeared head coach Kalani Sitake may be leaving for the open position with Penn State. Seemingly from nowhere, BYU football's soul mate had wandering eyes -- Cougar Nation was desperate to retain a connection that had meant so much through the years. "Kalani Come Home" is more than a song; it's a plea, and one that has struck the hearts of so many listeners.

Kevin Young Thug is a visionary. More than a basketball coach, he is leading the charge for both the future of BYU basketball and collegiate basketball as a whole. He doesn't play by your rules; he creates his own. Anyone can hoop in Provo, as is evidenced by his revolutionary collaboration with King Tot, more colloquially known as Richie Saunders.

An incredible year in the life of BYU athletics, and we want to share the magic with you one more time in our year-in-review playlist.
